71YO Woman in Yishun Hung Red Cloth Along the Corridor ‘Coz She Thought Her Neighbour was Spying on Her

Nosy neighbours, especially in apartment complexes, are a dime a dozen, but how many of them would go that extra mile and install a pinhole camera or a CCTV just to monitor your every move?

This is what a 71-year-old grandma, Yang YunYing (杨育英) alleged her neighbour did in Block 346 at Yishun Avenue 11.

A rife-filled neighbourly relationship

The two neighbours have been living in the HDB for around 10 years, and out of that 10, they have been involved in squabbles for 5 years over corridor space.

According to the 71-year-old, ever since the relationship between her and her neighbour deteriorated, her neighbour did a host of “crazy stuff”, all of which, she claimed, was recorded by the CCTV in front of her home to be used as “evidence” when needed.

“The worst part is that last week, when my son returned home from work, he saw the neighbours installing a pinhole camera that’s facing directly at our front door!”

Due to this, she decided to hang a piece of long red cloth to prevent the supposed camera from seeing right into her home whenever her front door is opened.

It’s all a massive misunderstanding

The next-door neighbours, 58-year-old Amran (阿姆兰) and 56-year-old Maria (玛利亚) denied the allegation and claimed that it’s a major misunderstanding.

Last week, they had their son was clearing some old wires on top of the corridor.

This act was spotted by their elderly neighbour’s son and he thought they were installing a pinhole camera there.

Maria was quoted as saying, “It was them who installed a CCTV to “spy” on us, and now the perpetrator is trying to portray themselves as the victims.”

The grandma didn’t deny installing a CCTV in front of her home.

She even added a sign to warn people of it, probably as a subtle reminder to her neighbours to “don’t play play ah!”

The neighbour responded by posting a sign of their own, saying “whatever”.

A tug of war where no one wins

No one from either side is willing to step back from the dispute though, with both sides trying to “collect evidence” so they could bring the other side to court.

They have also called the police multiple times over disputes.

This is truly a tug of war where no one wins. Seriously though, why can’t we all just be friends?

By the way, although this takes place in Yishun, Yishun is actually a goody place to live in. Just watch this video to the end and you’d understand:
