A fire linked to a personal mobility device (PMD) broke out at Block 475B Yishun Street 44 in the early hours of 5 Nov 2025.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the blaze at about 2:25am and swiftly extinguished it upon arrival.
About 40 residents from the affected block were evacuated during the incident. Four occupants from the affected third-floor unit were assessed for smoke inhalation and taken to Singapore General Hospital.

All residents from the affected unit have since been safely discharged.
PMD Fire Originated from Living Room, Follows Earlier Ang Mo Kio Blaze
Preliminary investigations by SCDF suggest the fire originated from a PMD in the living room of the third-floor unit.
The incident occurred less than four hours after another fire involving a personal mobility aid at an HDB block in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 late on 4 Nov.
SCDF reminded the public not to purchase or use non-original batteries for active mobility devices, including PMDs and power-assisted bicycles (PABs). The force also advised against charging PMD or PAB batteries overnight or for extended periods.
In the first half of 2025, there were 20 fires involving PMDs—double the 10 cases reported during the same period in 2024.
Nee Soon GRC MP Praises Community Response to Yishun PMD Fire
Nee Soon GRC MP Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi praised residents for helping one another during the evacuation process in a Facebook post on 5 Nov.
“Response from the Singapore Civil Defence Force was swift and neighbours had helped one another in the evacuation process,” Dr Syed Harun wrote. “I am relieved and thankful to hear that all residents from the affected unit have been safely discharged.”
Dr Syed Harun spoke with the affected family and reassured them that grassroots leaders, the Housing and Development Board, and Nee Soon Town Council would support them during this difficult time.
He described the incident as a “strong and timely reminder” for residents to stay vigilant, learn first responder skills, and continue looking out for one another.
An Emergency Preparedness Exercise had been conducted in the same neighbourhood just a few weeks before the fire.
