Youth Denies Having ‘CB Party’ with Friends Despite Posting It on IG; Claims It Was a Cheeky ‘Throwback’

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, three words have become the equivalent of Harry Potter’s infamous Unforgivable Curses:

Yes folks, the situation has gotten THAT bad.

And so, one can only imagine the turmoil this youth must be facing when one of his Instagram stories, which showcases a group of eight men gathered in an apartment unit with the caption “CB party? More like HP party”, was ratted out to local journalist site Stomp.

Well, something’s about to go down and it’s not HP.

Sure enough, Stomp wrote an article on it, and netizens proceeded to do what they do best: slam the man for what he has ‘unwittingly’ done in this testing period.

And while it’s not clear whether any legal action will be taken, the apprehension itself must’ve been enough to cripple even a man of such solid build.

As a Wise Old Man would say: “Sometimes, it’s really not worth trying the system, you know?”

Thankfully, however, it seems that the youth has provided an alibi that should prove sufficient to avoid a trip to the police station.

According to the man himself, the video was an old video and not recorded during the Circuit Breaker period.

“It was actually a throwback that I posted with a cheeky caption but some active people took it for real and sent it to you,” he told Stomp.

To prove it, he then shared a screenshot of an Instagram Stories video he had uploaded on 14 May.

“The video clip you posted is of me with long hair,” he said.

He also revealed a screenshot of the original video, with the timestamp indicating that it had been recorded on 23 June 2019.

And while nothing’s set in stone just yet, these pieces of digital evidence should be enough to let the youth off the hook.

The original video was first brought to the attention of Stomp by a certain Tkbe. According to the Stomper, the video had been posted on Tuesday (26 May) at 9:00 p.m.

The group of men were alleged to have been having a “private party” in the midst of the ongoing Circuit Breaker measure.

Other Instances

While this particular scenario might have been a case of mistaken assumption, I feel it pertinent to point out that there have been legitimate instances of such behaviour. An earlier Stomp report, for example, entailed a separate Instagram Stories video which featured youths gathered with bottles of champagne.

Youths have also been caught on video coming together and smoking at an HDB staircase.

Well, you know what they say;

It’s only when you learn it the hard way that you start living life on the straight path.

Let’s just hope that current and future perpetrators will get it before the long arms of justice swoop in.
