YouTuber Jake Paul is many things: famous, infamous, and an all-around ‘saint’ when it comes to his brother Logan Paul.
However, it seems that just like his brother, he has found it hard to stay away from controversy.
Loads of controversy.
Fresh off hosting house parties in the middle of the epidemic, as well as an alleged involvement in the looting of an Arizona mall, it seems that he has gotten on the wrong side of the law yet again…
As police have reportedly raided his house, and even confiscated actual firearms in the process.
YouTuber Jake Paul’s House Raided & Firearms Were Found
According to Variety, the FBI – including a SWAT team – raided YouTuber Jake Paul’s mansion in Calabasas Calif on Wednesday morning, and reportedly seized firearms in the process.
The raid was conducted under a federal search warrant, and was apparently part of an ongoing investigation into the younger Paul.
“We understand that a search warrant was executed at Jake’s Calabasas home this morning while Jake was out-of-state. We are still gathering information and will cooperate with the investigation,” Paul’s attorney Richard A. Schonfeld confirmed to Variety.
At current time, the search affidavit remains confidential.
“The FBI is executing a federal search warrant at a residence in Calabasas in connection with an ongoing investigation,” FBI officials said.
“The affidavit in support of the search warrant has been sealed by a judge and I am, therefore, prohibited from commenting as to the nature of the investigation. No arrests are planned.”
According to a video taken by ABC7, a multitude of firearms was spread out across the property during the search, with a long gun stacked against a hot tub in the backyard.
At least 20 agents in tactical gear were involved, with armored trucks deployed in the operation.
Paul was allegedly not home at the time of the raid.
Recent Spate Of Controversy
Several news sources have since reported that the search was conducted in relation to a previous riot at an Arizona shopping mall.
Back in early June, Paul was charged with criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly after he was recognised among a horde of looters at a mall in Scottsvale, Ariz, during the BLM protests.
In response, the Youtube star denied the charges, stating that he simply wanted to “share our experience and bring more attention to the anger felt in every neighborhood we travelled through.”
He also insisted that they were only documenting the scene, and did not partake in looting or vandalism.
“For context, we spent the day doing our part to peaceful protest one of the most horrific injustices our country has ever seen, which led to us being tear-gassed for filming the events and brutality that were unfolding in Arizona,” Paul wrote in the post.
“We were gassed and forced to keep moving on foot. We filmed everything we saw in an effort to share our experience and bring more attention to the anger felt in every neighborhood we traveled through; we were strictly documenting, not engaging.”
The charges have since been dropped.
Paul has also faced public outrage for hosting big house parties at his mansion amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, he was simply “living” his “life”.
“Our leadership is failing us, and everyone kind of just doesn’t know what to do. But I personally am not the type of person who’s gonna sit around and not live my life.”
Well, let’s just hope that Jake Paul will be able to “live his life” to his heart’s content for years to come…
Because at the rate things are going, he might well risk the prospect of living his life behind bars soon enough.
The younger Paul now has over 20 million subscribers in his YouTube channel.
