Girls’ Generation’s Yuri Slammed for Taking a Dangerous Photo & Posting It Online

Some of us are willing to take some risk to take the perfect image, like, you know, going on a diet for a week so we’d look good in our Japan trip.

A diet is a risk, ok?

However, when Girls’ Generation Yuri recently took a large risk taking a few perfect images, it backfired instead.

While it looks innocuous, it isn’t.

Those rocks were actually tetrapods.

Tetrapods are large, four-legged concrete structures used in coastal engineering to protect shorelines and harbor walls from wave erosion. Their distinctive shape, resembling four-legged creatures, helps dissipate the energy of incoming waves, significantly reducing their impact.

By breaking up wave action, tetrapods minimize the force exerted on the coast or structures they guard, making them an effective tool for coastal protection.

Made from reinforced concrete, tetrapods are durable and capable of withstanding harsh marine environments.

And here’s the thing: the spaces in tetrapods are large enough for a person to slip through and very difficult to escape from, resulting in death in many cases.

Due to the inherent danger, Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries enforces a fine of up to ₩1 million KRW (approximately S$969) for climbing on or being atop tetrapods.
