Singapore actor Zhang Yaodong was seen manning a steamed seafood stall at Block 9012 Tampines Street 93 on 4 June 2025. The 47-year-old was observed operating the cash register and taking orders from customers at JB101 Traditional Steamed Treasures.
A member of the public shared his appearance on Xiaohongshu, writing that the stall was opened by Zhang and that he had stepped in to help after his employees resigned.
The stall is located in the Tampines industrial area and serves traditional steamed dishes such as steamed eggs, fish and prawns.

The person who took the photo said Zhang appeared “better in person” and spoke politely. They also commented that it was admirable to acknowledge one’s mistakes and take responsibility.
Zhang has since expressed his gratitude for the support.
Actor Thanks Supporters in First TikTok Video
Zhang launched his TikTok account and uploaded his first video to thank supporters for their encouragement. The video received over 204,000 views within 24 hours.
He expressed appreciation for the support shown after reports of his appearance at the stall.
Zhang said the business has not been widely promoted as he is still working on improving the food. He described his experience at the stall as a wake-up call and said it helped him reflect on his next steps.
In the video caption, he wrote that he would be sharing his journey with viewers.
Background and Business Ventures
Zhang previously made headlines over reports that he had fathered children with several women in China, Indonesia and Thailand. He revealed in November that he has two daughters and regrets not being present during their upbringing.
He has kept a low profile and has not responded to media queries.

In February, Mediacorp’s talent management agency The Celebrity Agency confirmed that Zhang was no longer under its representation. He has not appeared in any new television productions.
Despite this, Zhang remains a nominee in the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes category at this year’s Star Awards.
Zhang has also been involved in the food and beverage industry. He once partnered with fellow actor Terence Cao to open a roast meat stall, which later closed after two years. Zhang reportedly lost a six-figure sum from the venture.
His parents were originally from Selayang in Selangor and began their careers as hawkers before opening a coffee shop. Zhang was said to have helped out during his younger days.
While some continue to criticise Zhang, many netizens have voiced their support. One commenter wrote that there is nothing wrong with making an honest living.
