If you’re one of those that have a sweet tooth but don’t have the time or is too lazy to bake up a storm, you should really thank those creative people that discover ways on how to bake yummy goodies just by using the microwave.

Some recipes allow you to literally mix up a few ingredients, pop it into the microwave and be ready to be eaten within a few minutes. Talk about convenience and mess-free! Bonus points because you don’t have to wash plenty of mixing bowls, whisks and rolling pins.


Chocolate fudge cake

To make this chocolate dessert, you will need caster sugar, cocoa powder, self-raising flour, walnut crumb, eggs, milk and butter. Start by grabbing a microwaveable pan and grease the sides and base to ensure that the dessert won’t be stuck onto the pan. 

Next, mix sugar, cocoa powder, flour and walnuts before adding the egg, milk and butter. Pour the brown mixture into the dish and place it into the microwave for 6-7 minutes. Depending on how hard or soft you want your fudge cake to be, feel free to pause the microwave and touch the dessert to test its firmness.

If you’ll like to go an extra step and make it extra chocolatey. you can melt and heat up chocolate and cream before pouring it onto the fudge cake.


Bread and butter pudding

Using ingredients including fruit bread, butter, egg yolks, eggs, milk, caster sugar, vanilla extract and icing sugar that you’ll be able to find in your neighbourhood supermarket, this dessert is easy and convenient to master.

Firstly. cut the bread slices into triangle shapes and butter them before laying them lying against each other in a microwave-safe dish. Proceed to mix the egg yolks, eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla together. Pour the yellowish mixture over the bread while making sure that the bread stays submerged in the mix.

Leave the dish for 10 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquids. Then, microwave the dish for 10 minutes or until you see the egg mixture getting solidified. If you’ll like, you can heat up the grill and grill the dessert to give it an extra firmness before dusting it with icing sugar to finish.

Gather ingredients of tap water, butter, vanilla essence, cocoa powder, plain flour, caster sugar and salt. Mix the water, butter and vanilla essence into a large mug of your choice before adding the other ingredients while stirring.

Pop that into the microwave for 60 to 75 seconds depending on how gooey you want the dessert to be. If you’ll like, you can add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top of your dessert before indulging.

If you’re not a chocolate lover, fear not, as the microwave is capable in helping you to bake something less sweet. Gather ingredients of self-raising flour, caster sugar, butter, milk, egg, lemon peels, lemon juice and boiling water.

Begin by greasing the sides and base of a pan (do you realise now, that that’s  important? Haha!) Combine the flour and some sugar before adding the butter, milk, egg, lemon peels and some lemon juice. Mix till smooth before placing it into the microwave for 3 minutes for a slight firmness. Then combine the remaining sugar, lemon juice and boiling water (be careful!) and if it’s not warm enough, pop it into the microwave for 30 seconds before pouring it into the dish.


Apple upside-down pancake

To make this fruity dessert, you will need pancake mix, water, vanilla extract and cinnamon powder. For the apple toppings, you will require butter, apple slices, brown sugar and cinnamon powder. After you peel and slice the apples into thin slices, grease the pan using butter and stir the brown sugar and cinnamon powder onto the pan. Spread it out and arrange the apples into a design that you prefer. Cover using a microwaveable plate and place it in the microwave for 3-4 minutes until the apples are slightly browned.

For the batter, mix the pancake mix, water, vanilla extract and cinnamon powder into a bowl. Making sure that are no lumps, slowly scoop the batter onto the apple slices dish. Microwave the dish without covering for 3-5 minutes. To make sure that the dish is cooked on the inside, pop a toothpick into the baked dish and see if it comes out clean. Let the dish cool down for 5 minutes before, you flip it over carefully so the apples are on top of the pancake.


Sticky date pudding

For this dessert, you will need dried dates that are chopped, brown sugar, oil, honey, self-raising flour and soy milk. For the sauce, prepare butter, brown sugar, heavy cream and vanilla essence before you proceed. Grease the sides of a mug before adding the dessert ingredients together and making sure that the mix is smooth.

Microwave the mixture for about 2 minutes until you notice the pudding rising slightly. Mix the sauce ingredients and warm it if you prefer a warmer sauce, then pour it onto your pudding and enjoy!


Berry cobbler

Depending on the kind of berries that you like – or you can choose a mix of berries, chop them and mix them with powdered sugar. The other mix will be flour, white sugar, butter and baking powder.

After a smooth mixture, add milk and stir. Slowly add the dough mixture (the second mixture) to the top of the berry mixture and microwave it for 1 and a half to 2 minutes. Be careful when you scoop the delicious berry cobbler into your mouth as it’ll be really hot!


Chocolate truffles

Guaranteed to be addictive, these bite-sized chocolate balls are easy to make. With just 2 ingredients, chocolate chips and milk (if you’ll like, you can add a few pinches of salt or peppermint essence), mix the ingredients into a dish before microwaving it for 50 seconds. Continue to heat the mixture while stirring it at every 10 seconds. You can add the additional but optional ingredients at this point if you’ll like.

After that, remove and freeze for at least 40 minutes. Using a small scoop, scoop up the chocolate into mini ball shapes. Another trick is to scoop the mixture into moulds before you freeze them so you don’t have to scoop them later on.

Are you a fan of cookie dough? Here’s a quick fix for you the next time you crave for it. Firstly, melt your butter in the microwave before adding sugar, vanilla essence and salt. Mix egg yolks into the cup and add flour before stirring. Add your desired amount of chocolate chips and stir it again before microwaving it for 40 to 60 seconds.

Mix the ingredients for the cake in the pan ready to microwave for 6-7 minutes. Proceed to mix the orange syrup mixture with cold water and microwave it for 2 minutes. Turn the cake upside down after it’s slightly cool and drizzle the syrup over the cake.
