Here’s the thing about the Internet: anyone can say anything, including rumours and misinformation. And when it comes to Pokémon GO, there’re even more misinformation, especially when there’re video and photo evidences of these misinformation (which, of course, are primarily due to Photoshop and Premiere Pro).
In fact, even before the game was out, we were fed with false information about its release date so many times, we nearly lost hope in the game coming to Singapore.
Here’re the top 8 Pokémon GO myths debunked!
Tapping a tossed Pokeball that has missed the Pokémon will let you retrieve the Pokeball back
Here’s something to rest this case once and for all: This is false. Everyone has tried it in the office, and every website out there has mentioned that it has never worked.
Ghost Pokémons are in cemeteries or graveyards
Not that anyone sane will hunt for Pokémon during this period (anyone remembers it’s the Seventh Month now?), this is a popular myth that some people in the US have firmly believed in. There’re two reasons why this is false: firstly, the creators won’t be so silly to have Pokémons in such areas, and secondly, people have apparently tried these locations and no ghost Pokémons have spawned.
A rainy day would mean there’ll be water-based Pokémon everywhere
How do I even begin? It has been confirmed again and again that the locations of the Pokémons are based on location, and not based on…what, weather? So, if that is the case, in sunny Singapore, we’ll have Charmanders everywhere?
Downloading Google Map and playing it offline will reduce battery consumption and makes it load faster
Well, someone from Google gave this answer: “short answer: no. long answer: nooooo”.
You can buy Pokémon GO Drones to catch Pokémons
The catch? It’s a prototype.
Mew, Mewtwo , Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Ditto can be caught
These five legendary Pokémons are not available in Pokémon GO yet. If you’ve seen this picture, it could only mean one thing: the Photoshop level is too damn high.
People have died from playing Pokémon GO
That’s one heck of a sensational news, but that’s not true. People have found dead bodies, mugged and got into traffic accidents, but there has been no report of a person dying due to Pokémon GO directly…yet.
The gender you decide for your character determines what Pokémons will spawn regularly
One of the craziest and most sexist myths ever, here’s one for everyone: it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from: all it matters is whether you’ve been Poké-hunting.
