No matter what our subject preferences are, many of us would have had gone through at least 2-4 years of doing science experiments in the science labs. Those are definitely the lessons that we miss a lot, especially seeing as they were the only lessons when we could go out of our classroom, besides P.E. Here are some fond memories of those lessons for you to relive again!

Escaping the four walls
It gets really boring when you have to sit at your tables and face the whiteboard for hours on end. Having science lab lessons allowed us to at least walk around and stretch our legs.

The lesson is usually short
Because we needed to prepare and clean up the materials, the actual lesson time is shorter than other lessons. For example, out of the 1.5h lessons, only 1h is spent on the boring academic parts.

Acting like a professor
Of course, we would all have donned the white lab coats at some point of time. The long coats made us feel so important for some reason we can’t fathom. But tough luck, if you got a dirty one stained with chemicals.

Wearing goggles
Granted, they were a bit stuffy and annoying after a while. However,  you can’t deny that wearing the googles just made you look smart and science-y. Not to mention, we only wear googles when the experiments are risky, or in other words, fun!

You get to cheat at science experiments exams.
Even if you have absolutely no idea what’s going on, you can still take a pretty good guess when you see your table mates doing the experiments. Nobody said you couldn’t look around when cleaning your apparatus. This will never happen in the normal class tests.

The bunsen burner
Hey, we were kids. Playing with fire was considered fun, and lighting up the bunsen burner was so exciting, even thrilling.

You can openly talk to your friends
Many experiments required partners, so you would usually be paired up with a classmate at your table. Cheers to gossiping, discussing and sharing answers without getting reprimanded by the teacher!

Watching the chemicals change colour.
It was like magic. Yes, yes, we know it’s Chemistry, but still, MAGIC. You just feel so proud of your achievement.

Secretly laughing at your friends when they break something
Inevitably, someone in the class will break something. When you hear the shattering behind you, you would try (and fail) to hide your smile. Retribution comes when you are distracted and also let the beaker in your hand fall. Yep, that happened to me. Damn it.
