Soon, we might see “period” emojis in WhatsApp. Like, finally?

To be honest, we didn’t even think period emojis are a thing, but now, it is.

The whole emoji thing have been rather kind towards the girls, and other than all the gender-less stuff, there are the nails, dancing and the so bloody cute matching bunny outfits.

But a big part of the girls’ lives are missing, that is, the period emojis. And at the moment when they’re dying from cramps the best they can do to express it is use an ‘agonised face’ or ‘angry cat’ or something. We didn’t even realize it is missing before they brought it up.

Which is why a new petition on Change.org is asking Unicode to add six new period emojis to the collection. They feature everything from a sanitary pad and hot water bottle emoji to a bloated emoji. We are excited about this, because this opens up new dimensions to the emoji world. And hopefully, one day, when dicks start appearing on the emoji list, we’ll be able to send dicks to everyone we know.

Now, before you dismiss it as another act of insanity by the radical feminists, or rather, feminazis, calling emojis sexist after their claim that the air-con is sexist (Seriously! Check it out here), read on to find out why this isn’t just an issue about females with inflated egos.

Launched by Bodyform, the petition’s aim is to help women talk about their periods without embarrassment or anxiety.

The petition states: “Millions of girls and women find it hard to talk about their periods, which can cause embarrassment, anxiety and lack of confidence.

“To tackle this head on, we at Bodyform are submitting a petition to Unicode (the consortium responsible for the emoji keyboard) to ask them to include our six new period emojis, or #Femojis, to break down period taboos and encourage people to express how they feel about periods.”

Therefore, these emojis are not just “another emoji”, but actually a move that can improve the self esteem issues and break down the traditional taboos that had been there for too long. Genius, if you ask me.
