For many Singaporeans, I’m sure you are familiar with our local attractions such as the Marina Bay Sands Sky Park, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Sentosa which are popular choices for tourists to visit when they are in Singapore.
Tripadvisor, a tourist review site well know around the world, has come up with a list of top attractions to visit in Singapore. But what will make you fall off your seat is the attraction that has been ranked second: the MRT.
That’s right, our MRT system beat other world-renowned attractions such as the Botanic Gardens and Singapore Zoo to come in second in the top 10 list of top attractions in Singapore.
After this hearing this piece of news, I bet that the first thing that comes to your mind is whether they are being serious or just joking.
But the truth is we do have an MRT system that performs pretty okay when compared to other countries whose commuters have it worse, given how these reviews are usually left by tourists who have been to our country.
Anyways, here is the list of top 10 attractions in Singapore according to Tripadvisor if you want to know more.
Gardens by The Bay
Gardens by The Bay was voted top on the list of top attractions in Singapore, with many positive comments by tourists who commented that the Supertrees in the attraction were a unique sight and the place gets better at night with the spectacular view of the night lights of Singapore.
The MRT
To include our MRT system in the list of top attractions is something that will definitely make you question if this list is even legit. But the truth is that tourists love taking our MRT system as it often arrives on time, the price of a ride is affordable and the directions on how to take the MRT are easy to understand and provide a lot of convenience for tourists to explore Singapore.
Perhaps this will make you look at the MRT system in a different light, besides it breaking down once in awhile.
National Orchid Garden
It is no wonder why this attraction is popular among tourists, considering that our national flower is an orchid. Singapore is also a world famous orchid breeding hub since the 1930s and The National Orchid Garden can be considered our local version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame with many celebrities having hybrid orchids named after them.
Singapore Botanic Gardens
Our world famous Botanic Gardens, which has won the prestigious award of UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a popular choice among tourists as it is one place where you relax for free and enjoy the wonders of nature.
Singapore Zoo
Who doesn’t love the zoo? If you cannot go to the Night Safari, the Singapore Zoo is probably the second best choice for you if you love to see animals. The Singapore Zoo has won global awards such as World’s Best Zoo and Most Popular Wildlife Park.
Cloud Forest
This is one of the attractions in Gardens by The Bay where you have to pay for entry. But the price of admission is definitely worth it once you enter the building with every level providing visitors with a unique experience among the cooling temperatures in the Cloud Forest.
Marina Bay
One of the many places in Singapore where you can enjoy the night lights and breathtaking scenery of the skyline of Singapore, Marina Bay is a popular spot for dates where couples can have a waterfront seat to an awesome night show that operates daily.
Singapore Flyer
It may seem pricey for Singaporeans, but the Singapore flyer is one of the few places in Singapore where you can get a bird’s eye view of Singapore without any obstruction.
Marina Bay Sands Skypark
The Skypark is famous for its wonderful view of Singapore and there are also many restaurants dotted there where you can have a dining experience with a view so good, you won’t want to leave after finishing your meal.
Waterfront Promenade
Waterfront Promenade is known among Singaporeans as the place where you can view fireworks without any obstructions during the National Day Parade, but it is also well liked by tourists as this is a location where you can catch a laser light display for free that is shown from Marina Bay Sands.
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum
This is a place where visitors can connect with their spiritual side and a taste of Singapore that even locals may be unaware of. On top, the vegetarian food served for free in the temple is something all foodies must try.
