Seriously, who would claim to detest seafood (unless they had a legitimate allergy or some other reason)? It’s like foregoing the pleasure of indulging in a world of gourmet delights! If someone says they don’t like seafood, we should immediately transport them to a remote, uninhabited island and never let them return to society. Just kidding… kinda.
Let me to tell you about a mouthwatering dish I discovered at Dempsey’s Long Beach: salted egg crabs. Imagine biting into succulent, soft crab meat that has been lavishly covered in a luscious salted egg sauce. And, the best part? Pair it with simmering hot, golden fried mantou buns for the perfect texture and flavor combo. It’s a seafood lover’s paradise!
In Johor, I’m a completely different person. I HAVE to have kum heong prawns. The aroma of those stir-fried prawns, infused with fragrant and spicy kum heong sauce, is enough to drive me wild. That, and lalas that have been steamed the traditional Teochew way.
But, hey, it’s not just these two gems. I’ve scoured the seafood scene to recommend the top ten seafood joints that will rock your taste senses like never before.
1. Todak Seafood Restaurant
On the beaches of Johor’s straits, the food at Todak Seafood is served outdoors with the typical setting of red plastic chairs and pink tablecloths, but the food is fantastic.
Todak Seafood has an excellent reputation for its delicacies, and their black pepper crabs are a must-try. These succulent crabs will transport your taste senses to a realm of pure joy, richly covered in a tempting black pepper sauce. Each gratifying crack of the shell reveals a delicious and savory delicacy that will leave you wanting more.
The affordable price of Todak Seafood makes it even more appealing.
So, enjoy the symphony of aromas, take in the seaside atmosphere, and taste every mouthwatering bite while appreciating that you can indulge in this seafood haven without breaking the bank.
I would definitely recommend checking out Todak Seafood Restaurant at least once!
