The fridge is a safe haven for everything that you want to preserve or delay the spoilage of. However, some things actually turn bad even faster in the fridge. Which ones below are you guilty of?

Onions
Onions become mouldy and mushy in cold temperatures. If cut, the exposed surface also starts to dry up even if you wrap it. Additionally, onions will also fill your fridge with its smell which will take days to get rid of.

Garlic
Garlics will start to sprout in your fridge and will grow rubbery and mouldy. The thing is that you won’t be able to tell from its appearance until you slice it up.

Soy sauce
Soy sauce is a fermented product and can keep unrefrigerated for up to one year.

Olive Oil
The cold will cause your olive oil to condense and become hard, with a butter-like consistency. It’ll take a long time for it to become liquid again.

Coffee
Coffee is like a sponge for smells. It will absorb whichever smell is nearest to them in your fridge and also lose its aromatic flavour. If you really have to chill your coffee beans, freeze it instead.

Honey
You can find a jar of 100 years old honey and it will be as fresh as when it was placed into it. Honey never expires. Putting it in the fridge will cause the sugar to crystalise and make it hard to use.

Fresh Herbs
Like coffee, fresh herbs love to absorb smells around them. Putting them in the fridge will cause them to lose its original flavour and dry out quickly.

Potatoes
The cold temperature will break down the starch in potatoes to sugar. You will end up with a sweet or gritty potato which will not taste good.

Ketchup
If you are a frequent ketchup user and use it as often as they do in the restaurants, there is no need to chill it. Generally, ketchup can be left outside for up to a month. If you can’t finish it by then, you should keep in the fridge.

Bread
Bread will go stale and turn hard in your fridge. You will never get the same fluffiness and moisture back again.
