When I say “Fann Wong” and “Christopher Lee”, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? I’m fairly certain this is the image:
…No? Geez, I really am getting old (´;ω;`)…
Well anyway, fans of Fann Wong and Christopher Lee, it’s time for you to rejoice! For the first time since 《无炎的爱》, Singapore’s iconic duo will be appearing together on screen again!
As such, here are 10 facts about the 《Doppelganger 入侵者》 you might want to know!
1) 14 years’ wait
It took them 14 years since《无炎的爱》, but Fann Wong and Christopher Lee have finally decided to show the younger generation the power of veterans. Let’s hope the show 《Doppelganger 入侵者》is worth the wait
Whoa, if I had a kid back then, he/she would be in a secondary school by now!
2) Watch on Toggle
Oh and, before you start telling me that you’re not seeing the show on TV—well, that’s because it isn’t.
The show has premiered on 6 Feb, and new episodes will be added on Tuesdays and Fridays.
3) The time for Prequel is now
Oh yes, in case you didn’t notice, what you’re watching on Toggle now is the prequel to 《Doppelganger 入侵者》.
Wow, I’ve never seen something like a “prequel” in local dramas(maybe because I don’t watch local dramas that often)! Sounds to me like this would be a big production already!
4) No Toggle? No worries!
Now, if you’re an old-school person and would prefer to watch the series on TV, you’ll be glad to know that a TV-movie version of the prequel will air on Channel 8 at 7 pm, 11 March!
This is a good chance to allow your parents to relive the good ol’ days of TV and perhaps get hit by a wave of nostalgia or two!
5) Main series?
Well, we all know what happens after the prequel—no, not the second movie in the franchise.
Chronologically, it’s the main series. Sheesh, We’re so used to watching the prequel after the main series nowadays thanks to HollyWood(Probably).
Anyway, the main series will air on Channel 8 after the TV-movie, starting from 12 March, Mondays to Fridays at 9 pm.
6) Powerful Cast
With an allegedly high budget, they can’t possibly be getting random people to act on the show, right?
Rest assured, the iconic duo aside, we will also get to see familiar faces(for an old man like me, at least) like Ann Kok, Choo Hou Ren, Darren Lim and Rebecca Lim!
Now I have pretty high expectations for the show!
7) Familiar face from overseas
Apparently, an actor your grandparents might be familiar with will be making an appearance on the show too!
Taiwanese actor Jiang Jun Han(江俊翰) will be making his appearance in a local drama for the first time! And yes, you might recognize him from the soap operas your grandparents watch, like 《风水世家》 and 《夜市人生》!
8) A long time coming
This might be the first time in 14 years that our iconic duo is appearing together on screen, but did you know that it has been awhile for some of the other actors since they’ve last acted in a Mediacorp series?
- Christopher Lee: 3 years
- Fann Wong: 7 years
- Darren Lim: 2 years
- Ann Kok: 3 years
With all the artistes leaving Mediacorp nowadays, I suppose it should come as no surprise that most actors are doing more than just acting now.
9) Cameo of Zed Lee
In case you have no idea who Zed Lee is, he’s the son of Christopher Lee and Fann Wong. As he was present on set during the filming of 《Doppelganger 入侵者》, we might just see him if we’re lucky enough!
10) Steered clear of romance
Prior to this series, our iconic couple has always steered clear of romancing each other on a show as Christopher Lee felt that it was awkward for them to be affectionate in public.
However, they have since wondered how their new lifestyle would impact their chemistry on set. Hence, they’ve finally agreed to star together in a show once more.
