If your favourite hobby is to binge watch MasterChef on a Friday night, thinking to yourself you can whip up a mean ass plate of ratatouille than the contestants, you’re in luck.
The series has been franchised all over the world and now it is coming its way to our sunny shores!
Yes, you now can be in the thick of things, especially if you love cooking.
Here are 10 facts about MasterChef Singapore that ever amateur cook should know!
1) Casting calls are now open
According to their site, they are looking for the “best, brightest and tastiest chefs that the ‘Little Red Dot’ can muster”.
You must be a Singapore citizen or a permanent resident.
So, if you think you fit the bill, go and apply now as the casting will close on 25 March, midnight.
2) You must not be a professional chef
So in order to be part of MasterChef Singapore, you cannot be a working in a restaurant, hotel, canteen and etc, preparing and cooking food.
So if you work as a chef for a living, then say au revoir to your chance of being a participant.
But hey, if you’re a professional chef, you don’t even need the title of MasterChef.
Am I right?
3) You must be 18 years old
Unlike MasterChef Junior where they accept kids, you have to be an adult to be part of the show.
After all the original MasterChef show involves blood, sweat and lots of tears.
So you must be mentally and physically prepared.
And if you’re turning 18 this year, just make sure you’re officially 18 by 11 April 2018.
4) Clear your schedule
The filming will be around 4 weeks so make sure you are available from 26 April 2018.
5) The show will premiere in August
According to Channel NewsAsia, the show will be broadcasted on Channel 8.
I am not too sure whether Gordon Ramsay will make an appearance, but he has a swanky restaurant in Singapore—Bread Street Kitchen—so who knows, fingers crossed.
6) MasterChef is produced in over 50 places globally
Yes, the show has been franchised all over the world, including Australia, America, China and, now, Singapore!
7) There is already a Singaporean who won MasterChef
Not to burst your bubble, but lawyer, Woo Wai Leong was the inaugural winner of MasterChef Asia!
8) The show is 18 years old!
The show has come a long way; it originated in the UK in 1990.
And in 2005, the show had a revival of sorts and Gordon Ramsay has made the show so much entertaining to watch
9) The show has 3 other versions.
The aforementioned, Junior MasterChef, Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals.
As the monikers suggest, the second features celebrities and the third showcases professional chefs
10) MasterChef Australia
It is one of the more popular franchise, not to mention it is the most-watched series in Australia!
You can catch MasterChef Australia on cable, channel 501, Fox Life.
