If you’ve ever been to Golden village (GV) cinema, WE cinema or Eng Wah cinema, you would know that snagging promotions other than student discounts are like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
However, movie ticket prices have increased drastically in the last few years: I remember that a few years back, one-weekend ticket could be less than $10. Now, it’s almost impossible to find one with less than $10…or is that true?
Hidden within the promotion sections in movie theatre operators’ websites, you might not know that you could get discounts like buy 3 get 1 free in Golden Village, or a student promotion in WE Cinemas. With a number of good movies coming out today, here’re the ten most useful promotions that you might not know. You’re most welcome!
Cinema (E.g Gv) Promotions Like Student Prices
Gold Village: VISA checkout buy 3 get 1 free
If you have a Visa Platinum, Visa Signature or Visa Infinite card, you’re in luck. Simply do an online purchase and select “VISA Checkout” and you can get four tickets for the price of three. What’s more tempting is that this promotion is valid for weekends only—even better, since that’s when most of us would be in GV for the latest movie!
Check out their website for the terms and conditions here.
Gold Village: $1.50 to $9.00 off with DBS GV iCard EVERY DAY
If you’re a movie buff, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t register for the DBS GV iCard. As a member, you’ll get $2 off for regular movies, $1.50 off for 3D movies, $3 off for Gold Class movies (Mon-Wed only) and $9 off for a popcorn combo. Here’s the best part: the promotion is for every day, including weekends!

Gold Village: Kids watch for free
This could be the best promotion for parents: Buy two normal movie tickets and the kid (below 12 years old) could also watch it for FREE! So parents, next time don’t gong gong buy one more ticket for your kid. The only drawback is that the movie must be before 2:00 p.m. But hey, early birds get the worms, right?
Here’re the terms and conditions.
All Cinemas: Senior citizen $4.50 per movie or $5 per movie
It’s good to know that theatre operators are showing respect to our pioneers by providing these splendid discounts to them. All cinemas have this offer, but the terms and conditions, and pricing, are slightly different.
