In Singapore, Uniqlo is considered an up-and-coming store you go to for basics.
If you’re one of those people that see Uniqlo as that Japanese store that sells clothes at an affordable price, you’re really underrating the apparel store.
First opened in Japan in 1949, it has climbed the success ladder and currently owns a total of 1,400 stores in 16 countries globally.
Here are a few interesting and hidden facts you might not know about Uniqlo, the chain that is expanding so fast here, they’re almost everywhere now.

Named previously as Unique Clothing Warehouse, the company decided to revamp their name and by combining Unique Clothing into Uniclo. However, an administrative mistake during the registration secured the company’s new name as Uniqlo.
They were involved in the Olympics
Back in Uniqlo’s history, they took part in the Olympics by making uniforms for the Japan team in 1998, 2002 and 2004. Pretty impressive, huh!
The CEO see Uniqlo as a technology company
Founder and CEO of Uniqlo mentioned that he see Uniqlo as a technology company instead of a fashion company. No wonder there are advancements like Heat Tech apparels!

Since 2001, the company has been active in their recycling campaigns, regularly collecting used clothes and giving them to those who are in need. At one period of time, employees in the US also volunteered to restore and repair areas that needed their help.
They played pranks
Back in 2012, the company created about a hundred accounts before “hacking” into Pinterest and posting on all of them. The page became a large advertorial when people scrolled, leaving them feeling confused but amused.
They offer complimentary tailor service
For every pair of jeans or a jacket that you purchase, they provide free tailoring if it cost more than $20. If it cost less, you will still be able to make use of their alter services but with a $5 fee. Additional bonus because they’ll alter it on the spot and it’ll be ready within an hour.

So good that they are trained to ask you if you found everything you’re looking for TWICE. Because they really needed to make sure.
Their employees’ salary are the same
Employees all around the world, who are in the same position will be paid the same based on a universal pay system. You wouldn’t feel like you’re getting paid unfairly because the guy working in Berlin is earning the exact same amount as you.
