After getting the rings, paying your BTO downpayment and spending a bomb on the wedding, many couples probably don’t have much money left to splurge on their honeymoon. However, there is no need to totally skip it or even skimp on it so much that you end up at a hotel in Johor Bahru. These destinations are so cheap that you can spend a week or even two there without busting your credit card limit, but still doesn’t lose out in terms of the romantic atmosphere and setting!
Bali
Yes, it’s been done to death, but nothing is more romantic than walking along the pristine white beaches hand-in-hand and watching blazing sunsets together right? Plus, its popularity also means that the tourist infrastructure is already in place – you don’t want to ruin your honeymoon with a crappy waiter who can’t even understand English.
Lombok
Or if you don’t want to visit such a touristy destination, Lombok is another island you can explore. They have equally beautiful beaches and resorts, surrounded by high mountains and greenery. Perfect tropical getaway!
Langkawi
Of course, when it comes to tropical honeymoons, we can’t miss out the Malaysian equivalent. Plus, the ringgit is so low now that everything is super budget-friendly!

Although it’s a coastal city, it is also perfect as a base to get away from the beach and visit the cities of Hoi An and Hue as day trips.
Palawan, Philippines
It has the prestigious reputation of “the best island in the world”, voted by over 76,000 people worldwide. Their beaches are nothing like the Palawan beach in Sentosa, by the way, the scenery there is far more breath-taking.

Although Laos is not a common choice for honeymoon, the natural and cultural attractions there will make your honeymoon trip a memorable and fulfilling one.
Sri Lanka
This hilly country is a favourite of many honeymoon couples who are looking to enjoy a week or two in solitude.
Koh Rong
Although it takes quite a while to get to this Cambodian island (plane, bus, then ferry), it’s all worth it for the long stretch of sandy beaches and lack of tourist presence.
