Take a look around you when you’re on the train or buses, and you’ll see almost everyone carrying the same phone – rectangular, sleek blocks with minute differences and the ability to connect you to the Internet and social media no matter where you go.

This is the age of the smartphones, and it’s pretty much changed the way we live and the way we interact with technology.

Do you remember back to when smartphones were something that’s considered fictional and sci-fi?

Well, if you can, you’re probably grown up with your own fair share of wrinkles. Have you used on of these 10 phones before? If you did, you’re probably old now.

Because unlike now, having a mobile phone in the past is something like a privilege, and most of us would only get our hands on our very first phone when entering upper secondary level or after O levels. For kids today, I see even primary school kids fiddling around with their smartphones on the bus and train.

Yes, phones back then comes together with an antenna sticking out at the top. We often find ourselves surprised by the fact that even if we unscrewed that antenna, the phone still works fine.

I don’t know about you, but I had great fun pretending to be a secret agent by extending the antenna and flipping open the phone to “make a status report” using my dad’s phone. That action was just too damn cool.

This used to be a BlackBerry. In the past, it was iPhone vs BlackBerry, and when Samsung came, the berry was squashed. Nevertheless, BlackBerry came back in 2017 with a new phone, but didn’t even make a dent in the industry that’s dominated by iPhone and Samsung.

Why did we love Nokia phones back then? Well, there’s snake for one. And the UI is pretty simple to use.

This iconic phone is so popular that Nokia remade it just for fun. Well, actually, they remade it to market their new phones.

Flip phones were one favourite of ours, but slide phones are pretty awesome as well. It just sucks that the cover is pretty fragile so one wrong move and bam, you’re out of a phone.

And if you’ve this phone before, you’re usually a rich kid #justsaying

Even today, this phone still exists because it’s a favourite pick for those who are working in areas which doesn’t allow camera phones in their work places. But seeing as how such places are getting lesser, this phone might just disappear in a few years’ time.

After all, numerical keypads? Come on.

Samsung T100

Yes, Samsung existed before Galaxy S came out, people. They just looked different, and stayed on the sidelines (unwillingly).

So, have you owned any of the phones? Another way for the old people to differentiate ourselves from the younger ones is the fact that we remembered Nokia as the company that once ruled over the entire mobile industry in the world.

People today would probably only see this once great company as a lousy brand that cannot hold a candle to Samsung and Apple.
