10 Realest Thoughts Only a TRUE Subway Fan Will Have

Subway fans understand that “eating fresh” is the only way to live. In or out of the Subway restaurant, you’re committed to that sandwich through and through. Not sure if you’re really one of them? Here are some thoughts we think only a true Subway fan would understand.

1. Only eat the sub vertically

This is the beginning to having a truly enjoyable meal, and the only position to assume that a fan can accept. When the sub is held upright, the sauces and the best juicy pieces of meat and vegetables fall to the bottom. You’ll still have great flavor and taste in your first bit and top half, but this trick is simply to prepare yourself for that wondrous last bite.

2. Even though the sub value meals went up by $0.90 (now $5.90!), it’s still the best place to dine

A value meal of $5 for a sub and a drink is sure to attract many. But once the price went up, some didn’t think it was that worthwhile. Not a Subway fan though! If it’s a Subway deal, it’s a good deal, and every bite of that sandwich and sip of that drink will be well worth the price!

3.  You always make full use of the free subway cookie you get from completing a survey

Some people throw away the receipt without a second glance. What they’re missing out is that there is an invitation to complete a survey in exchange for a cookie at the bottom of most receipts. If you’re a true fan, you never miss out on this deal. Who doesn’t like free food?

4. Cookie is softer if it’s well baked (and harder if it isn’t!)

Those golden brown cookies with white macadamia nuts or chocolate chips baked in are absolutely heavenly. But upon closer inspection, a harder Subway cookie has been put in the oven for too long and isn’t of the perfect texture. The real cookie would have been softer, particularly fluffy in the middle. Of course, you’ll love your cookie no matter what, but you still have the skill to differentiate between the different qualities of cookies.

5. Refill the drink as you sip from it

Alright, so we all like to bend the rules every now and then. For fans, a little sneakiness is awarded with a bit of extra drink. Be it your fizzy drinks or your fruity tea, once you fill up your cup, you take a quick sip or two. No one’s watching as they’re ordering their food or munching away, so you fill your cup again and repeat. If someone’s approaching, simply grab the lid and cover your drink. You’ve got away with a bit more than you’ve actually bought!

6. Buy a packet of chips to put inside your sub (after crunching it up!)

As much as your chosen sub can taste great, some times you want some extra zing. Cue the packet of chips that goes with your set meal. Tear open a small opening in the packet to let the air out and mash those chips up. After ignoring the curious stares of people who have heard the noise, you pour the ‘handmade’ condiment across the meat in your sub. A bit of salted potato chips make your sub way beter.

7. You can have your meat and eat it too

To stay true to the ‘Eat Fresh’ motto, some people try to avoid high calories when they dine. The Turkey Breast is one of the lowest calorie choices, with 260 kcal. Fat free sauces like Honey Mustard which has 29 kcal go well with subs and wraps too. Making smart and healthy choices is just one way to determine if you’re a Subway fan or not.

8. Order a Flatbread if you want a footlong

The way that flatbread is prepared ensures a sweet 14 inches when ordered. While a footlong sub may shrink during baking and may not be exactly 12 inches from the beginning (after all, a footlong is just a name), buying the flatbread will definitely give you bang for your buck.

9. Know exactly how to fold the paper so the sauces won’t drip out

After chewing off more than half of the sub, your sandwich needs to be readjusted in its wrapper. But as a fan, you’re careful not to ruin the arrangement so all the good stuff stays at the bottom for a fresh bite.

10. Savour the last bite

Last but not the least, after all that effort chalked up to save the best for last, you’re happily holding that end of your sub. With sauce overflowing and veggies still lining a good chunk of meat, you take the last bite ever so slowly. This is always the best part of your meal, and you take your time to savour every aspect of your last mouthful. Ah, the joys of leaving the tastiest for the end.

These tricks and thoughts likely make you a fan of the famous sandwich chain! If you’re not a Subway fan yet, maybe you should head down to the nearest outlet and think like one. No need to thank us for your conversion to a heathier person.
