“Processed food” isn’t exactly the most comforting phrase to see on a food packaging. However, we want to debunk this myth. Not all unprocessed food is unhealthy and deserve to be treated with fear and disgust. To be honest, almost all food we can find today involves some form of processing, even rice, which needs to be dehusked before it is edible. But of course we’ll not treat our readers like idiots and we’ll not include food like rice and bread in the list. Here are some tasty processed food that you should eat.
Canned beans
Other than being really convenient and tasty, canned beans are actually really healthy. It can be a great protein substitute for meat. Add it to your rice or veggies instead of meat for your next meal!
Breakfast cereals
Some contain too much sugar, but others like cornflakes and cococrunch actually are multigrain, high-protein, and high-fiber options that can fuel up eaters for a big day. These cereals are often fortified with vitamins and minerals that can be enormously helpful in keeping your body in prime functioning shape!
Yogurt
Other than being high in protein, some are also fortified with bone-strengthening vitamin D and calcium. Most importantly, it is also a source of probiotics, which deliver significant digestive benefits.
Peanut butter
An excellent breakfast choice or pre-workout food, it is the perfect spread for your bread for a quick meal. Not only does it contain various nutrients, it will replace the unhealthy chips or cookies that you’ll be likely to eat for snack instead. Killing two birds with one stone!
Nuts
Nuts are full of protein and many other nutrients that if scarce elsewhere, depending on the type of nuts. Some can be good for the brain, others for the heart. But of course, if you choose the sugar coated one, then you might as well just forget it.
Canned fish
We are too often told that canned food contain too much salt and preservative. Well, for fish, it’s better to eat canned fish rather than not eat it at all. Fish can be a troublesome food as it does not last very long and is also rather difficult to prepare. Canned fish solves the problem.
Cheese
People have been eating cheese for hundreds of years. And cheese is proven to be really healthy. Also, it certainly is processed. If you haven’t been eating cheese religiously, time to incorporate it into your diet!
Tofu
Tofu and its silky goodness is too good to resist. We are fans of tofu and we always will be. Tofu is also an excellent source of protein and a host of other vitamins. For an extra chewy texture, you can freeze the tofu before cooking them. It’ll become spongy and chewy!
Tea
There are all kinds of tea out there, and as long as you don’t fill it with a ton of sugar, it is going to be much, much healthier than drinking coke or coffee. So consider tea when you need a beverage next time?
Olive oil
The benefits of consuming olive oil is so huge, it is impossible to list everything here. Just to name a few, it’s rich in monounsaturated fats, which are known to be protective against cardiovascular disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s and liver damage.”
