10 Things You Confirm-Plus-Chop Will Lose When Moving House

Change is an inevitable part of everyone’s life. As we grow older, we move on from one stage in our lives to another.  Yes, some of us get the chance to move houses too. By moving house, we meant losing stuff.

The thing is- You don’t necessarily realise what you’ve lost for a while. A month later, and you’re all “Where is my jacket?” Try finding it, it would just be a fruitless and frustrating search. Then you come to a conclusion that it’s just gone.

We feel you, buddy. We really do.

1. Jacket

In this Sunny Island, we hardly get the chance to fully utilise our jackets when we head outdoors. Hence, the struggle when I wake up on a stormy Friday morning in my new apartment, just to realise my jacket was never to be seen again.

2. Poster from your favourite band. By “accident”.

I still remembered how that particular wall from my old room was covered with posters. Specifically, from my favourite band. No doubt we tend to outgrow certain teenage phrases in our lifetime. Yet, it would still be nice if I could still look up from my bed and admire them from the posters hanging straight across the room. Oh wells.

3. Patience

Patience is a virtue. Especially when you’re moving house. The amount of work to pack up them boxes, to clean up and to unpack them is really a test of patience. The ability to not shriek comes rarely. We understand.

4. Four weeks of sleep

Oh, say goodbye to losing close to one month worth of sleep. Especially when you’re the type of person who doesn’t simply accustom to new environments easily. The constant rolling and flipping in your new apartment are enough of a nightmare to keep you awake.

5. Remote control

“Now I’m searching every lonely place, every corner calling out your name. Trying to find you, but I just don’t know… Where do all the remote controls go?”

6. An old storybook

I was a bookworm back then, (probably still am) and books were gems to me. When I first moved house, I remembered how heartbroken I was when I’ve lost an old storybook of mine. I eventually gave up searching through boxes and boxes after a week. #RIP

7. Hair Ties and Clips (for females)

Back at my old house, I used to keep random clips everywhere in the bathroom, my study table, even in my wardrobe to make sure I have constant access to hair accessories whenever I need it. (Girls, you know how fast they disappear) Now, I can’t even find a single hair tie or hair clip anywhere.

8. Socks

I’ve always wondered, why do we only tend to lose one side from a different pair of socks altogether? Its as if they decided to break up after moving house and not see each other anymore.

9. Motivation to unpack anything

After one day, you’ll be swimming in boxes.

10. Sanity

I eventually got it back together with my sense of humour. YAY.
