Hailing from Canada, Just for Laughs is one of the longest running silent-comedy reality TV show of all time. It just celebrated its 15 years anniversary and has provided much laughter to viewers from all over the world. Let’s take a look at why it’s the best prank show ever.
Providing laughters since 2000
As much as no one liked being pranked, people surprisingly like to see it done unto others. And to be honest, it was entertaining and funny.
It made our evil ideas come true
The show brought to life some of the pranks you probably wanted to do but didn’t have the guts to.
Canada TV was brought to the world map
When the world thinks of Canada–which is never–it now thinks of good samaritans with a great sense of humour.
Transcending nationalities and languages
The show is a great “silences is golden” example. No matter where you came from, you’ll be able to understand the show effortlessly.
It saved us from boring ads
This is for scenarios when a TV program ends 10-15 minutes before the next one was scheduled. Mediacorp’s Channel 5 used to show short segments of Just for Laughs clips in replacement of ads. Thank goodness for it.
It gave us great ideas for April’s Fools
Just one episode of the show will give you plenty of ideas on pranks for April’s Fool.
Some of the pranks were pure genius
From hidden people in dustbins to mysteriously disappearing items, the show really has many creative ideas. Some of the pranks were so flawlessly executed that you can’t blame the poor victims for falling for it.
It restored faith in humankind
One type of popular prank in the show was when well-meaning folks came to help those seemingly in distress. No matter how ridiculous the request for help was, there were still good people willing to step up to the task.
It captured real emotions
From surprise, shock to anger, Just for Laughs showcased the honest reactions and emotions of people. Because of this, it offered interesting insights as to how differently people would react to the same situation.
It made your day better
Laughter is the best medicine. Also, the next time you’re having a bad day, be consoled with the thought that at least you didn’t get pranked and have your reaction recorded and played to the world.
