We saw a slight jump in locally transmitted cases yesterday, but at this point, we’re just thankful we’re recording fewer than 100 cases daily.
57 locally transmitted infections were confirmed yesterday, of whom 17 were unlinked.
In addition, one imported case was reported. They tested positive upon arrival and were immediately isolated.
Three New Clusters; Preschool Clusters Grow
In August alone, we’ve seen clusters at all types of establishments, including hospitals and preschools.
Now, we have two new ones that are linked to bus interchange staff members.
The first, at the Bishan bus interchange, has a total of nine cases.
The second, at Sengkang bus interchange, has 13 infections.
The third cluster was linked to an individual case with no further specifics provided by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The My First Skool Cluster, located at 54 Chin Swee Road, had five more additions yesterday, bringing its total to 17.
Two more infections were also linked to the Superland Pre-School cluster, located at Kreta Ayer Community Centre. The cluster now has 13 cases.
With MOH closing eight more clusters yesterday, the total number of active clusters is now 111.
No new cases have been added to the Jurong Fishery Port/ Hong Lim Market & Food Centre cluster for the last three days. However, it remains our larges active cluster with 1,155 infections.
451 Cases in Hospital; 9 in Hospital
At the moment, there are 451 COVID-19 cases in the hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.
26 severe cases require oxygen supplementation and nine are in critical condition in the intensive care unit; six of these 35 cases are fully vaccinated.
31 of them who are above 60 have fallen very ill. 25 of them are partially vaccinated or completely unvaccinated.
The percentage of unvaccinated cases who have fallen severely ill or died over the last 28 days is 9.5%, compared to 1% for vaccinated patients.
Vaccination Progress: 75%
Another day, another percentage point increase in our vaccination progress.
75% of our population is now fully vaccinated, while 81% has received at least one dose.
These numbers include the 83,327 people who have received 145,688 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s emergency use listing.

MOH: Facebook Post About 3YO Dying From COVID Not True
Yesterday (14 Aug), MOH called the public’s attention to a story spreading on Facebook claiming that a three-year-old preschooler had died from COVID-19 at KKH, and that this death was deliberately not reported.
“This is completely untrue and a total fabrication. As of Aug 14, there has been no child who has died from Covid-19 at KKH, MOH said.
The post had been shared nearly 200 times on Facebook.
“We urge the public to refrain from spreading rumours and misinformation,” MOH added.
The seven people who passed away in August were aged between 34 and 84.
