As much as you try to kid yourself, you never stop being a Pokémon Kid.
Every time Nintendo comes up with a new fad – Diamond & Pearl, the 3Ds, Pokémon Go – you’re always suckered in. It’s annoying, but you just can’t help it.
With the Pokémon Go craze going on, now would be an apt time to take a trip down memory lane and remind ourselves of the struggles we went through in order to become the very best. Here’s 15 things that nobody, but us Pokémon Kids, understands.
1. Wanting to train a Magikarp into a Gyarados, but all it can do is Splash.
2. There’s nothing more annoying.
3. The horror of having to walk around at a snail’s pace before getting your Running Shoes.
4. Weakening a Pokémon so you can catch it, but accidentally causing it to faint instead.
5. The disappointment whenever you get these in your card packs.
6. Stocking up on this before facing off with a legendary.
7. Placing your Pokémon in the Day Care hoping it’ll level up quicker, but ending up with a whole bunch of moves you hate.
8. Thinking that this Game Boy was the coolest thing ever.
9. Until this one came along.
10. Avoiding trainer battles because all you want to do is get to the nearest PokéCentre.
11. Having no choice but to cut through long grass to get to where you want to go… And then this happens.
12. So close, yet so far.
13. This always gets you right in the feels.
14. Having this one Pokémon whose moves are just HMs.
15. And finally, knowing the entire Pokémon theme song by heart.
