We’re one day away from Phase 2, so how are the numbers looking like today?
Well, seems like it’s better than yesterday.
Today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that as of 12pm, there are 257 new Covid-19 cases.
A vast majority of the cases are made up of foreign workers residing in dormitories.
There are 4 cases in the community: 1 Singaporean/PR and 3 work pass holders.
More details will be shared tonight.
It’s nice to see that numbers are fluctuating in the single-digit because experts have previously stated that 10 to 14 days is when we’ll see a spike in community cases if there’s a lot of infections after CB lifted.
Seeing how we’re still in the single-digit, it means that the Covid-19 transmission in Singapore is kept under control.

Return Your Tray When You’re Done Eating
Tomorrow is Phase 2, Day 1: the day when we’re allowed to eat out again.
Just remember that if you were to eat out at coffee shops or hawker centres, you’ll have to clear up after yourself.
On 17 Jun, the NEA announced that in Phase 2, the default mode of eating at coffee shops and hawker centres will be diners disposing of their own used tissues and wet wipes, together with returning their trays and dirty crockery to a centralised tray return area.
Doing so, they said, will make it less likely for cleaners working at these places to be infected with Covid-19.
A valid worry, considering that most of our cleaners at such dining establishments are the elderly.
Toilet hygiene and standards will also be improved and operators are required to provide toilet paper (yay), liquid soap and litter bins in the toilets.
For older coffee shops and hawker centres, the NEA is implementing a toilet improvement programme that’ll raise hygiene standards and have technology that makes it easier to keep them clean.
IKEA & Daiso Coming Back
For those who’ve missed Daiso’s $2 items or IKEA’s furniture-heaven, they are coming back on 19 June.
Both businesses will be opening all their outlets.
However, for IKEA, it’s only the furniture section making its way back.
Its restaurants and food market will not be open on 19 June.
But fret not, though, because we’ve checked with IKEA Singapore and were told that the restaurants might be coming back in 2 week’s time.
With that said, remember to practise safe distancing and follow all the rules even during Phase 2.
Because like the authorities said, Covid-19 phases aren’t a “one-way” street. If things worsen all of a sudden, we might just be smacked back into the dark ages (read: CB).
