451 COVID-19 Cases Today (19 May); 1 is a Singaporean or Singapore PR

If you’re seeing students in uniform in public transport today, don’t try to wake yourself up: you’re still in reality.

Because today, some students are allowed back to school in small groups.

Would it lead to more cases?

Well, we’d have to wait and see, but judging from today’s cases, no school is goody because the number of cases has remained stable.

Today, there are 451 cases.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 28,794.

Out of today’s cases, 1 is a Singaporean or Singapore PR. Yesterday, the figure was 2.

On average, based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 7 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 3 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at an average of 2 per day in the past two weeks.

And unlinked cases are a cause for concern: just look at one of yesterday’s local case.

1 of Yesterday’s COVID-19 Local Cases is a Woman Went to Work in Bishan MRT Station Even When She’s Sick

Yesterday, the number of new Covid-19 cases is 305, with only 2 local cases (Singaporeans/Singapore PRs).

And one of them is a 58-year-old lady who started experiencing symptoms on 14 May and tested positive for Covid-19 on 17 May.

Sounds okay, except there are two problems:

  • She continued going to work at Bishan MRT station despite experiencing symptoms;
  • She’s not linked to any existing clusters.

She works as a service ambassador, and SMRT has disinfected the areas that she’s been to.

Thankfully, everyone needs to wear a mask now so chances of her spreading the virus to others are low.

Nevertheless, it’s really important to be paranoid about your health and stay home if you think there’s something wrong, like this gentleman who works at NCID.

We’re less than two weeks from the end of Circuit Breaker, so just tahan a bit more lah.
