The police has said this again and again: “Low crime doesn’t mean no crime.”
Still find it hard to believe, because no one you know has ever been scammed or pickpocketed?
Well, think again, because yesterday (23 September 2019), two women were slashed by a penknife due to a robbery.
In broad daylight.
At 3:00pm.
Right outside a shop.
In Ang Mo Kio.
Here’s what happened.
Robbery in Ang Mo Kio
Two Stompers told STOMP about this incident that seemed to be from a new C.L.I.F. scene.
Yesterday, at about 3:00pm, a commotion was spotted outside COSY Spa at Blk 532, Ang Mo Kio Ave 10.
Want to know how open the area is?
Here, take a look:
There’s a coffeeshop just beside it, and it’s sandwiched between two clinics, which should be packed with people since it’s the haze season.
Just directly beside it is a bakery, and it faces the main road.
I take back my words: this doesn’t sound like a scene from C.L.I.F. or any Channel 8 drama. No sane robbers would rob anyone there, especially in Singapore when—
Police: OEI, how many times must I tell you, low crime doesn’t mean no crime! Now, play the videos we’ve done with you guys again.
Yes, sir.
According to a statement by the police, they received a call yesterday afternoon at 3pm, and two female victims were slashed by the penknife that’s used by one of the three suspects.
The two victims and another person were robbed of five handphones. Not sure why three people have five phones, but anyways.
Eyewitnesses said that about 20 to 30 officers “with guns” were in the area soon after.
The condition of the two victims is not revealed, but the eyewitness said that one of them seem to suffer a mere minor cut.
Arrested Fastly
Three men between the age of 37 to 50 have since been arrested.
The good men and women in blue from Ang Mo Kio Division established the identities of the three men through ground enquiries (i.e. asking around) and CCTV images around the area.
The three suspects would be charged tomorrow (25 September 2019) with robbery with hurt.
If found guilty, each of them could face up to 20 years of jail and 12 strokes of the cane.
Ang Mo Kio Ave 10: The New Yishun?
If you’ve remembered, not long ago, another robbery took place at Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 as well.
It’s not the same block, but it takes place on the same road.
Both are within walking distance as well.
Is Ang Mo Kio going to be the new Yishun? Would this deter people from going to A&W Hub?
Probably not.
