20YO Admits to Engaging in Sexual Acts with a 14YO & 13YO He Knew on Instagram & Tellonym

Muhammad Yusri Aljufri, 20, pleaded guilty on Wednesday (9 June) to three counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

He had engaged in sexual acts with two underage girls. 

Nine other charges, including producing child abuse material and owning obscene films, will be considered during sentencing on 29 June.

When Yusri was 19, he met the first victim on Instagram, who was a Secondary Two student, 14 years of age at the time.

They then met in person on 17 Nov 2019 at the void deck of a HDB block in Punggol. 

The girl told Yusri that she “wanted to bear his child” and the pair headed to a staircase landing on the 17th floor, where they had sex. 

After several weeks, the girl told her mother that she might be pregnant as she had unprotected sex and her period was late.

The girl went to a polyclinic with her mother on 16 Dec 2019 and found that she was not pregnant. At her mother’s request, the polyclinic staff filed a police report. 

On the same day, Yusri was called up for investigations. 

A few months later, Yusri met his second victim through Tellonym, which is an anonymous question-and-answer messaging platform. 

The girl was 13 at the time and was studying at a school for students with special needs. 

The girl expressed “wanting to be [Yusri’s] girlfriend almost immediately”, and they began exchanging sexual messages on WhatsApp. 

The girl sent Yusri nude photos of herself. They then arranged to meet on 9 March 2020 at Redhill MRT station before heading to a block of flats nearby.

They engaged in sexual acts and he gave the girl a “love bite”.

They then proceeded to his flat and engaged in unprotected sex.

Two days later, the “love bite” on the girl’s neck was noticed by her teacher, who informed her parents about it.

Yusri told the girl to lie to her parents that they would stop having sex. 

He was arrested on the same day and later charged and remanded in Changi Prison’s Complex Medical Centre for psychiatric assessment. 

1,000 obscene videos were found on his electronic devices. His mobile phone was confiscated by the authorities and it was also found that he had sent pictures of his private parts to the girl through WhatsApp. 

On 3 April, he was released from psychiatric evaluation. However, he proceeded to meet the girl again on 19 June at her home, where they engaged in sexual acts at a staircase landing.

This time, he also secretly filmed the acts without her knowledge. 

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Samyata Ravindran, Yusri “quickly abandoned her” as she was “unimportant to him”.

The girl confided in her counsellor about the latest incident five days later. Yuri was arrested and charged in court again. His bail was revoked and he has been in remand ever since. 

Upon seizing his phone again, the authorities found 17 obscene videos on it. 

Yusri said in mitigation that he still hopes to continue his studies and that has not completed National Service yet.

He said that he cannot “guarantee or promise” that he will change his ways but will “try [his] best”. 

He added that he understands that the offences he committed are “very heavy” but he hopes the judge can “give [him] an appropriate sentence”.
