You can never truly know a person’s character unless it is put to the test.
There are countless stories of revenge porn or domestic abuse, when a partner, often male, who is put under intense stress just cracks and becomes a completely different person. A really disgusting, dangerous, and scary person.
In this case, stress revealed the true nature of this man. A murderer.
Murderous Coward
Ridhayatul Khair, a 21-year-old Indonesian man, was told by his girlfriend that she was pregnant. She was four months along, and she wanted him to take responsibility for the child together.
This was a grave problem, as they were both students in Makassar State Islamic University (UIN), Alauddin. It should be fairly obvious, given the name of the university and that they were in Indonesia, a very religious country.
At best, he faced expulsion, and at worst, he faced total social exclusion due to engaging in premarital sexual intercourse, an act prohibited by traditional religious norms.
Not surprisingly, he refused to take responsibility for the baby. The victim then said that she would tell his family about the issue.
Upon hearing this, the man became incensed and murdered her.
The killer is suspected of trying to suffocate the victim with a pillow. The true murder weapon however, is the kitchen knife that was found at a riverbank not too far away.
The victim had been stabbed to death, with several fatal stab wounds on her body. Her body was covered in blood when it was found.
It was a gruesome death.
The evil man was arrested at the funeral of the victim, which he actually chose to attend. The police arrested him after a tip-off from the victim’s cousin.
Dangerous men
Oftentimes, the ones we trust the most to protect us will be the ones who prove the most fatal, like in this case. As a result, we often have multiple blind spots when it comes to abuse from our loved ones.
Oftentimes abuse does not come in the form of murders, of course. They can come in the form of emotional manipulation, coercion, and physical abuse.
That’s why we need to watch out for the warning signs early and leave a relationship immediately if you feel unsafe.
Here are some warning signs you should not ignore:
- Aways keeping tabs on your whereabouts, who you are with, and what you do.
- Trying to control where you go, who you meet and getting furious if you defy them.
- Accusing you of being unfaithful without reason and trying to make you feel guilty.
- Isolating you from your near and dear ones, often by behaving rudely with them. Threatening to use violence against your loved ones.
- Belittling you in public and/or private by denigrating your aptitude and the way you look, think, and feel.
- Calling you derogatory names.
- Constantly scrutinizing your every move and comparing you unfavorably with others to cripple your self-esteem.
- Blaming you for anything and everything that goes wrong and holding you responsible for their violent behavior.
- Shouting and destroying things valuable to you.
- Hitting, grabbing, pushing, shoving, forcing you to have sex or do things you don’t want to.
If your partner displays any of the above signs, he or she may be an abusive partner.
