Life is truly unpredictable, and once again, in the midst of so many unfortunate incidents happening, another well-loved celebrity has left us.

This comes as a shock as the rapper had just turned 21 a week ago, and even claimed in a tweet that that was “one of his best” birthdays yet.

What Happened

According to TMZ, Higgins was bleeding from the mouth when medical personnel responded to the scene. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and was conscious throughout, but when he arrived at the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

His death was later confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office and they have scheduled his autopsy to be done today.

According to footage shared by DJ Akademics that were uploaded by the guys who were on the same private jet plane as Higgins, it seemed that everyone was in good spirits and Higgins appeared to be fine.

The real cause of his death is still unknown.

Higgins was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1998 to a single mother who was described as religious and conservative. She apparently restricted Higgins from listening to hip hop when he was younger.

When Higgins entered high school, he started rapping and uploading his own mixtapes to the popular online music streaming app, SoundCloud. He then became part of the SoundCloud rappers, a subgenre that takes its name from the streaming platform where its artists find fame.

He debuted in 2017 with a full-length EP, 999, on the platform in 2017. He then shot to fame with his 2018 viral hits Lucid Dreams and All Girls Are The Same.

The former peaked at number two in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He often rapped about drug use, mortality and mental health.

In one of his songs, Legend, he rapped about the short lives of many artists, saying “all the legends seem to die out”. This was a tribute to 21-year-old Lil Peep and 20-year-old XXXTentacion who died in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

In the song, he also rapped about his paranoia, saying “What’s the 27 club? We ain’t making it past 21. I been going through paranoia.”

In an interview with The New York Times in 2018, Higgins shared that he used Xanax (drugs used to treat anxiety disorders) heavily when he was a teenager but was trying his best to avoid it because he knew that he had a lot going for him.

Paying Tribute

Juice WRLD’s record label said in a statement that he was a “gentle soul whose creativity knew no bounds”.

Many artists have also expressed their shock and paid their tribute to the rapper.

It is absolutely heartbreaking to know that another celebrity has left us and let’s hope that this will be the last of such unfortunate events.
