It’s nearing Christmas and if it’s any consolation for you folks out there who can’t travel to a country in the winter anytime soon, Singapore’s going to have its own “mini-winter”.

For the past two weeks, people in Singapore have been enjoying cooler weather.

Well, if you’re a fan of such weather (layering, anyone?), you’ll be happy to hear this.

According to the weather experts here, it seems like it’s here to stay, at least, for two more weeks.

Mini Winter in 2nd Half of Nov 2020 As It’s Projected to be Rainy on Most Days

Since November 2020 started, inter-monsoon conditions with low-level winds have been prevailing in Singapore.

In the second half of the month, it’s expected that these winds will strengthen, signalling the start of the Northeast Monsoon season.

The monsoon season is expected to last until March next year.

Bring An Umbrella Out

Similar to the first half of November, the rest of the month is expected to be just as wet.

Short-duration moderate to heavy thundery showers are expected over parts of the island in the afternoon on most days.

So if you don’t want your lunch to be a wet, messy affair, it’s time to accumulate points for free food delivery or bring an umbrella out with you.

On a few days, some of these showers may even extend into the evening.

And that’s not the end of it.

Predawn and early morning widespread thundery showers and gusty winds are expected on one or two days too.

All in all, the rainfall for the second half of November is expected to be higher than usual.

Expect Cooling Weather

The daily temperature on most days in the second half of November is expected to be between 24°C and 34°C.

It sounds normal, but if you remember months back, there was a similar period with many days of rain, the temperature dropped to “air-con weather“.

With so much rain predicted for the next two weeks, there’s a high chance of that happening again.

Nonetheless, if it doesn’t rain, the temperature can still reach a high of around 35°C, which is expected on one or two days.

Moral of the story: Dress light but bring a jacket.

Be prepared for afternoon thundery showers for the rest of the weekdays before a morning thundery shower will hit on Saturday.

So if you have any outdoor plans on Saturday, it might be good to start coming up with a wet weather plan.
