4 F&B Outlets Ordered to Shut for Breaching COVID-19 Regulations; 74 Other Individuals Also Fined Separately

Whoever said “rules are meant to be broken” had probably never lived through a pandemic.

During the COVID-19 crisis, breaches of safety measures have been taken rather seriously because it can lead to a loss of life.

So, if you persist with your rule-breaking, be prepared to be violently slapped on the wrist.

4 F&B Outlets Ordered to Shut for Breaching COVID-19 Regulations

Four food and beverage (F&B) outlets have been ordered to close after they were found breaching COVID-19 safety regulations.

The breaches were detected by the authorities during enforcement checks over the weekend.

Here are the deets.

1. Club Peaches

The first outlet, Club Peaches, had allowed gatherings of more than eight and failed to minimise interaction between employees and customers.

The club is located at Concorde Hotel and Shopping Mall on Orchard Road.

It was ordered to close for 30 days from 3 May to 1 June, as it was a repeat offender; it had previously been asked to close for 20 days in February.

Nine customers were also fined $300 each.

2. Alive@SG Pub

Another repeat offender, Alive@SG Pub, had allowed customers to play dice games on 30 April, which is an offence under COVID-19 laws.

The Lucky Plaza pub was ordered to close for 20 days from 1 to 20 May. It was previously ordered to suspend operations for 10 days in April.

3. Tangmen Restaurant 

Tangmen Restaurant, a restaurant at Orchard Plaza, was ordered to close for 20 days from 1 to 20 May.

It had served alcohol to customers after 10:30pm on 30 April, and was previously ordered to close for 10 days last December.

4. Club Empire

The last F&B outlet on the list, Club Empire, is a first-time offender.

The club had allowed intermingling between different groups of customers and was ordered to close for 10 days from 2 to 11 May.

10 Other F&B Outlets Fined

Another eight F&B outlets were fined S$1,000 each for flouting COVID-19 restrictions. This included not ensuring a safe distance between customers, playing videos for them, and allowing them to play dice games.

Two others were fined S$2,000 for similar offences because they were repeat offenders.

The errant outlets are:

  • Miami Bistro at Punggol East
  • Hai Bin Punggol along Tebing Lane
  • Cable Car 1890’s Saloon along Cuppage Road
  • Five Tapas Bar at Cuppage Terrace
  • Hermess 8 along Koek Road
  • Herbal Bar at Raffles Place
  • LOL Bar along Prinsep Street
  • Shun Fa Restaurant along Pagoda Street
  • Beastro at Punggol East (second offence)
  • Kin Kao Mai Thai Restaurant at Punggol East (second offence)

74 Other Individuals Also Fined Separately

In addition, 74 individuals were fined for breaking COVID-19 rules.

11 of them breached safety measures at F&B outlets, including two at Tekka Centre who failed to wear a mask when they weren’t eating or drinking, despite enforcement officers repeatedly warning them to do so.

Another 63 individuals were fined at parks and beaches managed by the National Parks Board (NParks) for gathering in groups of more than eight and for entering areas closed off to the public.
