Korean drama Descendants of the Sun has aired their final episode almost half a year ago. If you’re still hung up over it, don’t worry, we get it. Not sure what else to watch because you think no show will be as good as that? Well, we are here to save your day and give you recommendations of five other kdramas to watch!
For the fans of Song Joong Ki, in 2010, Song Joong Ki acted as a supporting cast in a medical drama, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Doctors. In this drama, he acted as the medical intern, Ahn Kyung Woo, who assists the doctors in the medical procedures in the O&B department of the hospital. And yes, he helped to deliver babies in the show as well. Fans who like him in the army uniform from DOTS can look forward to seeing him in a doctor’s uniform – coat and scrubs.
Aside from the older drama that the cast have acted in, here are a few newly released dramas that are worth the hype:
Love in the Moonlight (2016, 18 episodes)
This drama stars Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung. It takes place in the Joseon Dynasty of Korea where they show politics within the palace and how love sparks between the two main leads despite the two different worlds they came from.
Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016, 20 episodes)
For the fans of IU and EXO, you’re in for a treat. This drama takes place in the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea and the storyline is based on the Chinese novel “Bu Bu Jing Xin” by Tong Hua. The main cast consists of IU, Lee Joon Gi, Kang Ha Neul and Hong Jong Hyun. It’s a melodrama with a complicated love interest between the main and supporting casts. If you’re into melodramas, this is a must-watch!
Also, here are some older dramas that fall in the same category as DOTS:
Blood (2014, 20 episodes)
For the die-hard vampire lovers, this drama could be for you. This drama is about Park Ji Sung (acted by Ahn Jae Hyun) who is infected by a virus from his parents which resulted in him being born with all the vampire traits. He meets a hot-tempered colleague, Yoo Ri Ta (played by Gu Hye Seon) who then discovers his secret.
Emergency Couple (2014, 21 episodes)
Jin-Hee (acted by Song Ji-Hyo; yes, also known as blankji from Running Man) and Chang-Min (acted by Choi Jin-Hyuk) get married despite strong objections from Chang-Min’s family. Chang-min comes from a wealthy family. They then later get divorced but fate brings them back together again later in the show after the two of them start working as interns in the same hospital.
So typical Korean, but so good Korean.
Good Doctor (2013, 20 episodes)
This medical drama shows how Park Shi On (acted by Joo Won) who has autistic savant disorder with the mentality of a 10-year-old overcomes challenges faced in the hospital and becomes a successful paediatrician.
So there you have it! 5 other kdramas to watch just like the Korean drama Descendants of the Sun. Go on now, add them to your watchlist and you can thank us later!
