Body Cut In Half In fatal Accident At Woodlands; Motorist & Lorry Driver Killed

Yesterday morning, a motorcyclist and a lorry driver were killed in an accident. Another motorcyclist was also involved in the accident but refused to be taken to the hospital.

The lorry driver was taken unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. However, he later died from his injuries.

Police investigations are still ongoing.

Ex-UOB Relationship Manager Made More Than $2.2m From Fraudulent Transactions To Reach Sales Target

A former bank employee was sentenced to 2.5 years in jail yesterday after he forged the signature of his “godsister” multiple times.

From doing so, he made more than $2.2 million in unauthorised transactions from her accounts.

33-year-old Timothy Tan Swee Thiam worked as a relationship manager for United Overseas Bank (UOB) up till October 2015 to meet sales targets.

CapitaLand Donates $750k To Help 2,000 NTUC First Campus’ Low-income Pre-schoolers

Real estate developer CapitaLand launched a programme to help 2,000 pre-school children from needy families.

It announced in a press statement yesterday that it’ll give $750,000 to support children in NTUC First Campus’ pre-school centres.

The programme is called Classroom Support Programme and hopes to improve the language, literacy and numeracy of pre-schoolers who need additional support in these areas.

Director Of An IT Firm Gets Four Weeks’ Jail & Fined $150k For Evading GST

A director of information technology (IT) firm was sentenced to four weeks’ jail and fined $147,795 for evading goods and services tax (GST).

Arthur Yeo Yao Zhi, the director of Orynix pleaded guilty in court on 11 October. There were two instances of GST evasion.

Altogether, they amounted to $77,230 in fraudulent refunds between March and September 2012.

Workers’ Party MPs Court Case Update: They Are Liable for Damages

The long lawsuit between three WP MPs and Aljunied-Hougang Town Council came to a conclusion yesterday.

All three MPs were were found liable for damages to AHTC.

They are still allowed to keep their positions and can appeal against the verdict. The next round of court hearing will determine the amount they’ll have to pay to both town councils for the damages.
