A Singaporean who was charged with terror financing argued in his trial that he did not break the law even though he transferred funds overseas to support the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The man, Imran Kassim, said that he did not recognise Singapore law and recognised only syariah law.

The 35-year-old is charged with transferring $450 through remittance company Western Union to Mohamad Alsaied Alhmidan in Turkey for his publication of ISIS propaganda.

Cleaner Fined $4500 For Causing Hurt To Baby Son By Rash Act

A cleaner was fined $4,500 on Monday (13 Jan) after he pressed his six-month-old son’s neck against a mattress, causing the baby to cry in pain.

The 25-year-old Singaporean committed the rash act as he was irritated by the noise made by the baby.

He also punched his 20-year-old wife’s forehead when she tried to intervene.

The man will spend four weeks behind bars if he is unable to pay the fine.

Nearly 10 Flights Between Singapore & Manila Rescheduled Or Cancelled After Philippine Volcano Eruption

Numerous flights between Singapore and Manila were cancelled or rescheduled on Monday (13 Jan) after a volcano erupted south of the Philippine capital of Manila.

These flights include airlines like Singapore Airlines (SIA), Scoot, Jetstar Airways, and Philippine Airlines.

This comes after the Taal volcano spewed a massive cloud of ash that drifted across Manila, shutting down the Philippine capital’s international airport.

15 E-scooter Users Caught On Footpaths In A Few Days

15 riders were caught using their devices on footpaths since last Thursday (9 Jan), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said.

These errant riders were caught in locations such as Choa Chu Kang, East Coast, Hougang, Sembawang, Tiong Bahru, and West Coast.

Ever since the E-scooter ban came into full force, offenders who are caught riding their devices on footpaths can face fines of up to $2,000 and jail time of up to three months.

S’porean Employee Cheated Kindhearted Boss Of $7,800 By Claiming His Dad Has Died

A 45-year-old man pleaded guilty to three cheating charges after he lied about his father’s death.

Yari Raw, told his boss that his father had died and that he needed money urgently for funeral expenses, even though his father was alive.

He received $7,800 from his boss, who wanted to help. For each cheating charge, Raw can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
