PMA Rider Taken To Hospital After Accident With Taxi

An elderly personal mobility aid (PMA) rider was taken to hospital after he collided with a taxi in Choa Chu Kang on Saturday (Nov 16).

The accident occurred at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Way and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1, at 3.53pm.

The victim was reportedly crossing the road when the green man signal was lit, but he was hit by an oncoming taxi.

SPF Defend Anti-molestation Posters After AWARE Criticism

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has defended a series of crime prevention posters warning against outrage of modesty after the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) criticized them for being insensitive to molest victims.

The posters show the hand of a man seemingly about to molest a woman with the caption “2 years’ imprisonment: It is not worth it”.

AWARE criticized these posters in a Facebook post, saying they focused on the punishment but not the trauma suffered by the victim.

50kg WWII Bomb To Be Disposed Of At Construction Site Near Singapore River On Monday

Police discovered a 50kg WWII aerial bomb war relic at a construction site along Jiak Kim Street, off Kim Seng Road on Saturday (Nov 16).

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal team concluded that it was unsafe to move the relic and that it had to be disposed of on-site.

The disposal will take place on Monday (Nov 18) between 8am and 6pm. Parts of some roads and even the Singapore River will be closed.

MOH: Wider Range Of Healthier Food Choices & More Programmes To Fight Diabetes Since 2016

The proportion of Healthier Choice Symbol products in the market increased by 7.4 percentage points from 2016 to 2018, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday (Nov 17).

As of 2018, one in two stalls in hawker centres and coffee shops have at least one healthier option on their menu, as part of the Healthier Dining Programme.

In addition to healthier food options, there has also been a focus on helping patients manage the condition before it worsens.

Programmes to address diabetes-related complications such as eye problems, kidney failure, and limb amputations, have been introduced.

Cruise Ship Docks In Singapore After Hundreds Of Passengers And Crew Members Fall Sick

A cruise ship on the way to Vietnam from Thailand docked in Singapore this week after 229 of its passengers and crew members fell ill.

Those affected suffered a gastrointestinal illness, with symptoms like vomiting and diarrhoea.

The Ministry of Health said that the outbreak was caused by norovirus, a virus that can be prevented from spreading with good personal hygiene.

There were no Singaporeans among those affected.
