Top Eye Doctor Claims Childhood Traumatic Experience Triggered Him Into Road Rage

Lennard Harold Thean See Yin is a senior consultant at Jurong Medical Centre and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

On 18 Mar 2019, Thean was forced to brake when a Grab driver stopped about 2 metres from the stop line at the entrance of a roundabout.

Furious, he tailgated the Grab driver’s car until he was shaken off.

During the pursuit, he threw a bottle of unopened wine at the rear windscreen of the Grab driver’s car, drove against the flow of traffic and drove recklessly.

On 19 Feb, his lawyer told the courts that he was “kidnapped as a child”. It was added that the incident “triggered his traumatic memories” and caused him to lose control of himself.

S’pore Now Looking For New Sources of Masks, Might Manufacture Locally

Countries like Taiwan, India and Thailand have recently “clamped down” on the export of masks.

Which is bad because Singaporeans are going crazy for masks.

Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong said that the government is now looking for new sources of masks.

They are also exploring the option to produce masks locally.

He added that Singapore has stocked up on N95 and surgical masks during “peacetime”. As they draw from it for the coronavirus outbreak, they are also looking to replenish it as well.

Former Police Officer Jailed For Physically Abusing Maid

Just two weeks into her employment, the maid started experiencing physical abuse from Nazriah Md Isa, a policewoman for 21 years.

She threw a wooden toy block at her maid after finding an ant in her cup of water.

She kicked and spat at her maid when she was trying to help her put away the groceries.

And she also called her maid “pig” and “prostitute”.

The maid eventually managed to get help after throwing pieces of paper requesting for help out of the flat window.

The ex-policewoman was jailed for two weeks and had to make a $1,160 compensation to her former maid.

S’pore Aims To Phase Out Gasoline & Diesel Cars By 2040

Going green is the theme of the 2010s and Singapore isn’t any different.

DPM Heng Swee Keat recently announced the government’s intention to “phase out” gasoline and diesel cars by 2040.

And they introduced measures to help Singaporeans make the choice to do so, such as making it more attractive to get an Electric Vehicle (EV).

For one, they are looking at increasing charging points around Singapore, from 1,600 to 28,000.

They are also introducing EV Early Adoption Incentive, a scheme that offers a rebate of up to 45% on the Additional Registration Fee (ARF), capped at $20,000.

Currently, only 0.18 per cent of Singapore’s cars on the roads are electric vehicles.

3 New Covid-19 Cases in S’pore on 19 Feb, 1 Is A Dengue Patient

On 19 Feb, the daily update said that three new Covid-19 patients were confirmed, and one’s infection is of unknown origin.

The first patient is a 57-year-old Singaporean who had been admitted to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) on 15 February 2020 due to dengue. She then tested positive for Covid-19. Her entire ward is now being tested for the new coronavirus.

The second patient is a 54-year-old Singaporean who travels frequently to Malaysia for work and is linked to the Life Church and Missions Singapore Church cluster, which now has 4 cases.

The last patient is a 35-year-old Singaporean is a close contact of a confirmed case linked to the Grace Assembly of God Church cluster.

This means the cluster has a total of 22 cases.
