Malaysian Authorities Called Off Search for Remaining Missing Singaporean Kayaker

On 8 August 2019, two Singaporean kayakers went missing while kayaking in JB. The body of one of them has been found while the search for the second kayaker is still ongoing.

The search operation was stopped at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday (18 August 2019) as there were no more clues. It would start again should they receive any new leads.

The entire operation has costed RM431,380 (SGD$143,130) so far.

Retired Veteran Singapore Actor Bai Yan Passed Away at Age 100

On Monday early morning, veteran actor, Bai Yan, passed away after being hospitalised for ten days due to pneumonia. His wake is held at the Singapore Casket, and his funeral will be held on Friday (23 August 2019).

His wife had passed away in 2016 at the age of 94.

Gardens by the Bay Murderer Sentenced to Life Imprisonment

In 2016, Leslie Khoo strangled his mistress in his car and burned her body. Leslie had lied about his marriage and his job, claiming that he owned a business when he was just an employee. He had allegedly killed his mistress when she was about to expose his lies.

Yesterday, Leslie was sentenced to life imprisonment and was spared the cane as he is above 50.

Shell Coming Out with Electric Chargers for Cars By October

Should we still call Shell a “petrol station” then?

Yesterday, Shell announced the debut of their electric charger for cars, which is a first in Southeast Asia. They will be available in 10 petrol stations (???) by October and will charge $0.55 per kWh. The charger can purportedly charge a car from 0% to 80% in half an hour.

One can only wonder if that’s the first step to encourage people to buy electric cars.

Four People Taken to Hospital After a Fire in a Jurong HDB

Before you speculate, read this: the cause of the fire is still under investigation, so it’s unknown whether PMDs are at play again.

On Sunday (18 August 2019) evening, a fire broke out in Blk 158 Yung Loh Road, and four people have to be taken to Singapore General Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
