During a media briefing on Friday, NEA warned that the PSI reading for the next day would vary between the high end of the moderate range and the low end of the unhealthy range. If the wind continues to blow from South Sumatra, the F1 race could possibly be occurring under hazy skies, and the PSI level may reach the midsection of the unhealthy range.

Some of the measures discussed include education campaigns as well as regular spot checks on recycling bins.

Singapore’s recycling rate was reported to be quite poor over the years, usually measuring 20% or so.

Despite measures with the aim to improve the situation, some say it may do more harm than good because people may stop recycling when they are no longer incentivised to do so.
