A 34-year-old maid’s body was found tied to a tree in Tampines. Her husband is the biggest suspect and it’s reported he has already fled back to Bangladesh.

Her employer reportedly said that her maid complained about her husband’s abusive and cheating ways and how he’d take her salary for himself.

Metro Leaving Centrepoint With Decathlon Taking Its Place

If you’re young and you’ve never noticed that Centrepoint has a Metro, I don’t blame you. After all, low traffic is the main reason for Metro finally uprooting their flagship store from the mall.

Decathlon, the younger and more affordable brand for sports is moving to fill the void left behind by the breakup.

You can expect the shopping experience to change as well, with a spokesperson saying that AR and activity-based concepts will be used.

Government Removing Age Limit For IVF & Giving Subsidies To Boost Marriage & Birth Rates

Currently, women above the age of 45 are not allowed to go for IVF procedures.

Women above the age of 40 can only go for five cycles. Women who are younger than 40 are limited to ten cycles of IVF.

All that will be removed from 1 Jan 2020.

There will also be additional funding and subsidies available for assisted reproduction (IUI, IVF) and child vaccinations.

It’s no secret that Singapore’s an ageing society, nor is it a secret that the government wants us to hump like rabbits and reproduce.

Now, they’re putting money in where their mouth is.

A lower-income family may only need to pay $3 per month from next year onwards for full-day childcare.

The income ceiling for additional childcare and kindergarten subsidies are raised to $12,000.

More funding will be given to the preschool industry and pre-schools’ fees will be capped at a lower amount.

Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant Fined $230,000 For Endangering Workers’ Lives

Taking shortcuts are fine, except when it comes to people’s lives.

A hazardous waste treatment plant at Tuas learnt this the hard way when their actions came to light.

A flash fire happened at the waste treatment plant and could not be contained by the workers themselves. It spread fast as there were other flammable solvents within the plant.

Thankfully, there were no deaths and SCDF managed to bring the fire under control.

However, it was discovered that the incident happened because the containers containing the hexane were not suitable for safe storage.
