Property Agents, Sellers And Lawyer Among 10 To Be Charged In S$11.4m Housing Loan Scam

Ten people will be charged in court on 3 December for their alleged involvement in a housing loan cashback scam involving S$11.4 million.

The police said that the facilitators of the scam would arrange with the sellers and their agents to buy their property at a certain price.

Upon completion of the sale, the sellers would return to the facilitators any money they received in excess of the fixed price.

Any suspect found guilty of cheating may be jailed up to 10 years and fined.

The sentence for criminal breach of trust is up to 15 years’ jail and a fine.

Three Fined For Sharing Images Of Fatal SAF Training Accident

Three full-time national servicemen (NSFs) have been fined for sharing images of last year’s training accident involving a Bionix Infantry Fighting Vehicle and a Land Rover.

Muhammad Arif Azman, 22, who held the rank of corporal in the Singapore Civil Defense Force, was fined $3,000.

Arif and a friend sent the photographs to a WhatsApp chat group with 24 present and former SCDF personnel of the fire station.

Another two NSFs, Brandon Tan Jien Jet, 21, and Muhammad Zaki Haji Mokhtar, 24, were each fined $1,500.

Sasa To Close All Retail Stores In Singapore

Cosmetics retailer Sasa International announced on 2 December that it will close all 22 stores in Singapore.

Around 170 employers will be affected by this but will be fully compensated.

Sasa mentioned that the group has suffered losses over six years and performance has been less than satisfactory in Singapore.

Sasa said that to combat the loss in the Singapore market and the not so stellar performance of the Hong Kong market, Sasa has plans to expand in mainland China and to ramp up their e-commerce business.

S’pore Lady Accuses Travel Agency Of Negligence After Sustaining Second-Degree Burns During Trip

A Singaporean woman accused travel agency Super Travels of shunning their responsibilities after she returned to Singapore from Europe with second-degree burns.

She had actually been burned in a restaurant in Barcelona when a waiter accidentally poured boiling water on her.

The woman claimed that no compensation has been made.

Super Travels, however, accused her of not submitting details of the incident as might take legal action against her.

Former Principal Gets Jail For Taking $46,000

30-year-old Cheryl Zaneta Kaur Nespal was sentenced to a year’s jail after pleading guilty to one count of criminal breach of trust by a servant.

She was the former principal of AceKidz@SG pre-school from July 2016 to August 2017.

Between October 2016 and July 2017, Cheryl received $46,687.70 in total from the parents of 29 children for school fees and other items.
