Maid Levy Concession To Be Extended To Extended Family Members

It’s not just rich families that will hire a foreign domestic worker to help out around the house.

Sometimes, families who aren’t that rich have to hire a foreign domestic worker because there is no one else at home to take care of a family member.

Which is why there exist a maid levy concession to help support Singaporeans needing care.

Eligible households are able to get a concessionary rate of S$60 per month if they fulfil the following schemes for immediate family members:

  • Young child or grandchild scheme
  • Aged person scheme
  • Persons with disabilities scheme

With effect from 1 Sep 2019 onwards, the same concessionary rate will be extended to extended family members living in the same household.

S’poreans To Get New Sky Park Connecting Three National Gardens

Love greenery? Wish there was some way you can jog from one park to another easily without going through the roads?

You can, in the future.

Called the Bukit Timah-Rochor Green Corridor, this 11km green corridor will connect Jurong Lake Gardens, the Singapore Botanic Gardens and Gardens By The Bay and run parallel along Bukit Timah Canal.

The first phase will begin construction in 2021 between Bukit Timah and Dunearn Road. And there are plans to extend it to Kallang Riverside Park.

Punggol Primary Camp Disrupted After 20 Students & Teachers Get Diarrhoea And Stomachache

Punggol Primary P5 3-day overnight camp was cancelled and all the students were sent home from camp last Friday night, on 30 August.

The camp was held at Dairy Farm Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre, which is run by the Ministry of Education, and it was supposed to last till the 1st of September

A total of 20 students and teachers experienced “diarrhoea and stomach pain” on Friday morning, although the cause was undetermined. Some of them said they “felt better after resting back in the “dormitory” for a while”.

Although it was a stressful and difficult situation, one parent commended the school’s decision to cancel the camp, and called it “the tough but right choice.”

The parents were also told to monitor if their children displayed similar symptoms for the next few days, and seek medical assistance immediately if they did.

S’porean Bowler First To Get Gold At World Women Bowling Championships, Masters Category

Singapore has sporting talent despite our table tennis team.

Singapore bowler, Cherie Tan is one of them.

On 30 Aug 2019, she became the first Singaporean to clinch the gold medal at the World Women Bowling Championships, Masters category.

Only the top 24 bowlers with the highest pinfalls in the competition are able to compete in the Masters category.

SIA’s Latest Initiative To Go Green: No More Salt, Sugar & Pepper Packets. Sort of.

If you’re an economy class traveller on SIA, you’ll notice something different about your flight meals.

You’re no longer given packets of salt, sugar or pepper.

This is part of an initiative by the airline to reduce airline wastage.

Business-class travellers, on the other hand, will continue to get the condiments.

Not because they paid more, but because these condiments are given in shakers (read: reusable).

It doesn’t mean economy-class travellers will have to be less sweet, salty or peppery. The condiments are still available upon request.
