Parliment To Introduce Facial Recognition Attendance Tracking System For MPs

A facial recognition system has been introduced to track the attendance of MPs in Parliament.

The new system will replace the manual tracking system and will improve efficiency and enable Parliament to become a digitalised workplace.

In addition to real-time attendance, users can also conduct free searches on the attendance for any sittings online, based on specified criteria such as the sitting date and name of the MP.

More HDB Resale Flats Sold In October After Introduction Of Higher Housing Grants & Income Ceilings 

Since higher grants and income ceilings for first-time buyers took effect in September, more Housing Development Board (HDB) resale flats have been sold.

A total of 2,213 HDB resale flats were sold, which is an 18 per cent increase from September, real estate portal SRX Property said on Thursday (Nov 7).

The new grant, which may have influenced the resale market, is the Enhanced CPF Housing Grant (EHG), introduced by the government in September. Eligible first-time buyers, regardless of whether they get a new or resale flat, can receive a grant of up to $80,000.

Warriors FC Charged After Failing To Pay S$350,000 In Employees’ Salaries Over Three Months

Local football team Warriors Football Club was charged in a district court on Thursday (Nov 7) with 107 counts of failing to pay its employees their monthly salaries on time.

The club reportedly failed to pay more than 30 of its staff, including players and management, from August to October this year.

The total amounts to S$358,000.

Workers’ Party MP Low Thia Khiang To Refrain From AHTC Discussion On Recusal

Low Thia Khiang, the former Workers’ Party (WP) chief, said he would refrain from participating in any discussion by the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) on whether he and fellow MP Sylvia Lim should recuse themselves from all its financial matters.

This response comes after Parliment voted in favour of a motion to call on WP MPs Sylvia Lim and Low Thia Khiang to recuse themselves from AHTC financial matters.

“My role in financial matters is very limited, and I am only a member of a committee which looks at some projects,” Mr Low said.

Police Investigating Hong Kong Restaurant Owner Over Gathering In Singapore On HK Protests

The police are investigating the owner of a Hong Kong restaurant for allegedly organising a gathering here for people to discuss their views on the protests in Hong Kong.

Police said on Wednesday (Nov 6) that they were alerted last month to an incident involving Hong Kong resident Alex Yeung.

Mr Yeung is known for his pro-China views.

According to police, the event was first held at Kimoto Gastro Bar located at The Sail @ Marina Bay, after which it was shifted to the public area in the vicinity of The Promontory at Marina Boulevard.
