Rumour has it that Pokémon GO will finally be available in Singapore in “a few days”, but most of us are going crazy (thanks to constantly getting trolled by unreliable sources about the game’s availability!). Launched by Nintendo and mobile game developer Niantic Labs in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US on 6 July, it quickly took the world by storm.
The mobile game uses augmented reality and Google Maps to drop Pokémon characters into real-life locations for users to “catch” according to their smartphones’ geolocations. Fancy catching a Horsea in the middle of Punggol Waterway, or a Caterpie from your nearby neighbourhood park?
To curb the itch while waiting for Pokémon GO to be officially released in Singapore, here are 5 things you could do to curb the itch – even for a little bit, because #simisaialsopokemon.
1. Pokemon Nails
Pick your starter or pay homage to your favourite Pokémon (or all of them) by making a statement with its inspired nail art. You could even check out tutorial videos on Youtube to do-it-yourself – check out this one! Disclaimer: Steady Hand Required.
2. Pokemon Merchandise
Makan at the Pokémon Cafe and geek out with the other fans over Pikachu merchandise! Sold exclusively at the café, the merchandise includes T-Shirts for adults and kids (priced at $29.90 and $26.90 respectively), key holders (priced at $5.50 each) and a tote bag (priced at $18.90). And of course, you’ll get a free Pokéball mug with every order of the café’s signature Pikachu Smiling Rice Omelette with Magma Sauce or Pikachu’s Sweeeeet Pancake (while stocks last).
3. Pokemon Workshop
Sign up for the Pikachu Pancake Workshop at ABC Cooking Studio Singapore, located in Takashimaya! Held on the 23 & 24 July 2016, both adults and kids (4 to 12 years old) alike will be able to decorate and taste the signature pancake from the Pokémon Café. An exclusive range of merchandise will also be sold at the ABC Cooking Studio till 24 July 2016, while stocks last!
4. Pokemon Vehicle
What better way to make a statement than pimping your ride with all things Pikachu? Spotted and STOMPed at Bugis Junction back in 2012, this car was decorated with custom Pikachu decal and its interiors lined with Pikachu plush toys. I could only say, great foresight bruh!
5. Pokemon Clothes
Looking for PokéKakis near your workplace? Send potential hunters running after you by wearing a Pikachu onesie along the CBD. You’ll be almost famous, and maybe even find love along the way (heard it’s better than Tinder!). Available online at Lazada Singapore from $31 onwards.
