Herbal Tea Eggs are one of those food that we don’t really crave for, but the moment we walk past a shop that sells them, the aroma of herbal tea eggs never fail to make our mouths water. They are essentially a hard boiled egg infused in black tea leaves, as well as Chinese herbs and spices.
Psst. Herbal Tea Eggs are actually healthier than fried and scrambles eggs, so the next time you’re craving for some omelettes, try getting one of these eggs instead!
Eu Yang Seng
This is one of the more popular places to go to for a quick herbal tea egg craving fix. Scattered across Singapore, you can find this store at almost everywhere. From AMK to Bishan to Bugis to Changi, there are than 20 stores islandwide. Their tea eggs are fragrant and brewed for extremely long to give it the perfect bounce when your bite into it.
Pasar Malam
Pasar Malam pops up every now and then at different locations so if you happen to be walking past one, keep a look out for herbal tea eggs! Chances are, you’ll find a store selling them as they are pretty popular. Now, don’t assume that they are not as good as store bought, because you won’t be disappointed. We weren’t!
Tea Chapter
First established in 1989, Tea Chapter is the largest teahouse in Singapore. It has housed our former President, S.R. Nathan and current President Dr. Tony Tan. While you can attend workshops to learn about different pairings of teas, you can also indulge in their signature food, one of them being the Tea Leaf Egg. Though they lack the herbal ingredients, these eggs are just as tasty as any other herbal tea eggs in the market.
West Mall (Bukit Batok)
Located in West Mall lies a highly raved about herbal tea egg. The texture is said to be just right–chewy and not too hard. Not to mention they use superior tea leaves in order to get the perfect balance of flavor in their eggs. Yums!
Basement level of AMK Hub
Right beside the NTUC, there’s a store selling traditional tu tu kueh and tea leaf eggs. Whenever I walk past that store, I could never resist getting my hands on the herbal tea leaf eggs. It is extremely flavourful and trust me, you’ll definitely be back for seconds.
Tea Bone Zen Mind
Located along Emerald Hill road, this place specializes in all sorts of teas. Unlike typical F&B shops, you have to make an appointment at least four days in advance before going down. If you’re someone who absolutely loves teas, this place will be perfect for you.
They serve you food while drinking tea, in which one of them is a herbal tea egg. Not just any ordinary one, but one that oozes out nitamago upon cutting it. Basically, it’s like eating the famous Japanese ramen eggs but infused with herbs as well. Two of the best things in the world, trust us it’s worth any price.
