Less than 24 hours after Singapore announced the most drastic measures to contain the coronavirus, it’s reported that another person has died due to complications from COVID-19 infection.

At 5:41am this morning, the Ministry of Heath confirmed the death of a 88-year-old Singapore PR who has been infected locally.

The man was tested positive on 29 March 2020, and was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on 30 March. Since then, he had been in the ICU.

The man developed serious complications and eventually succumbed to the infection this morning.

He had a history of heart and kidney disease, cancer and diabetes.

That makes him the 6th person to have died due to COVID-19 in Singapore.

Linked to “New” Cluster at Singapore Cricket Club

Yesterday, MOH found a new cluster at Singapore Cricket Club.

The profile of the deceased matches Case 855, who is linked to the Singapore Cricket Club cluster.

His case was reported on 30 March 2020, whereby back then, he was considered “unlinked” until yesterday when it was revealed that he was part of the new cluster, which includes four others who were tested positive earlier.

So far, the club hasn’t responded to the cluster and the death.

The club, according to its website, is established in 1852 and despite its name, it’s a club that’s open to all other sports like soccer, netball and others.

As of yesterday, there are 1,114 COVID-19 confirmed cases in Singapore, and 25 back then were in ICU.
