One of Malaysians’ favourite past time is to spend it in cool, temperature-controlled shopping malls where they can indulge in some retail therapy. Shopping malls of all sizes are available not only in the heart of the city, but all over Klang Valley. These malls carry internationally acclaimed brands from all over the world, plus some home-grown ones as well as budget shops.

Suria KLCC
The iconic Petronas Twin Towers is well-known internationally and you can enjoy your retail therapy at the shopping mall located right at the base of the towers. Many tourists frequent this place regularly as it not only carries many international brands that are unavailable elsewhere but this mall also houses an aquarium and an educational science centre. Locals throng this place too, especially during the weekends.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur
Pavilion open its doors in the year 2007, instantly carving a name for itself as a go-to shopping mall for the more affluent. There are luxury brands available here but they are interspersed with just the right amount of regular brands to attract those with not as deep pockets.

Midvalley Megamall & The Gardens
Locals love to hang out at this mall no matter what day of the week, as it is easier to get to compared to being stuck in a jam getting to the Golden Triangle. These are actually 2 malls connected to each other by a bridge and has actually pretty much anything you could ever want to find in a shopping mall.

Sunway Pyramid
Sunway Pyramid is easily recognizable by the big lion headed sphinx at its entrance which also explains its Egyptian style architecture. This mall is integrated with a hotel, theme park and even an ice-skating rink besides the usual shops and eateries.

Did you know that Berjaya Times Square is actually amongst the biggest shopping malls in the world? They even have a large indoor theme park complete with a roller coaster that is seven storeys high. Berjaya Times Square appeals to the more economical shopper, as shops here lean more towards budget-style picks.

This mall is different from others in the list, it doesn’t have shops that sell apparel, bags or accessories instead it only sells gadgets. You can get all sorts of electronic gadgets here, and at great prices too. You can say it’s like the Funan IT mall of Singapore.

A shopping mall that is truly unique, locals visit this place for its many alfresco dining options, quirky shops, and funky sculptures and designs that adorn its interiors. Brave entrepreneurs like to start their businesses here as well, so you can find many new and up-and-coming brands here.

IOI City Mall
IOI City Mall is just a short drive away from IOI Resort in Putrajaya. This mall focuses more on getting customers from the southern parts of Kuala Lumpur as there are not many built there. The mall is also just half an hour away from Seremban, aiming to attract customers from there as well with its over 350 shops and numerous entertainment options available inside.
