8YO Boy Gets Cut After Falling In Jewel Changi Airport’s Canopy Park’s Mirror Maze

Jewel Changi Airport has been talked about by many because of its aesthetics and all the great food that is available there.

Sadly, not everything is good though.

Recently, their management received flak from a lady who claimed that she was denied entry because of her son’s inappropriate footwear into the snow walk part of the airport’s Canopy Park while another celebrity’s son was allowed into the area despite wearing similar shoes as her son.

This time, it’s about an eight-year-old boy who fell and got cut after playing in the Mirror Maze attraction of the Canopy Park.

Playtime Gets Cut Short

On 4 December, the boy’s family, who are originally from Malaysia, landed in Singapore after a flight back from Thailand. They intended to stay in Singapore for dinner before returning back to Johor Bahru.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the boy’s mother, 40-year-old Ms Wen Meiqing, and his father decided to bring their two kids aged ten and eight to the Canopy Park to play. However, his mother later lost sight of him as he was so excited that he ran off by himself to play.

He ran around in the maze and suddenly, he shouted for his mother.

When she finally found him, all she saw was her son with a pair of cracked glasses and a bloodied shirt. There was also blood on the floor.

Staff members tended to the boy’s injury on his eyebrow but because the cut was quite deep, the blood did not stop flowing. The family then sent the boy to the hospital where they spent $250 in medical fees.

Thankfully, despite the cut being deep, the boy did not require any stitches.

More Safety Features?

Ms Wen called for more safety features to be included in the maze when she noticed that the metal poles were not padded with cushion.

She claimed that as her child was young, he was not able to clearly determine what had happened that caused his injury, but she believes that he must have either ran into the mirror or one of the metal poles.

She mentioned that this wasn’t the first time that an incident happened, and added that this incident spoiled the family’s mood.

A spokesperson from Jewel Changi Airport responded that the appropriate safety precautions are communicated to everyone before they enter the park, and that guide sticks are also provided to help them navigate their way through the maze.

She also added that visitors being able to enjoy Jewel’s facilities in the most optimal condition is their topmost priority.

Perhaps the boy’s mother should have told him that running in a maze is not the best idea especially when you don’t know your way.

Hopefully the boy recovers well and such an incident doesn’t happen again.
