Today, kids are going crazy over GFriend, BTS and Justin Bieber.

But back in the 90s, we have our own fair share of idols to go crazy over.

Backstreet Boys…

…Westlife…

…and 4D number 5566.

Well, if you’re a 90s kid, and you’ve gone all crazy over Westlife back in their heydays, you’re going to be psyched to hear what the boyband is up to right now.

Westlife is now back together and making music again

If you haven’t heard, iconic boyband, Westlife, have gotten together to start making music again.

After seven long years.

And that’s not all.

They’re also planning an Asian tour in the near future, and they’ve confirmed that Singapore will definitely be one of their stops on this tour.

Why the sudden decision?

If you’ve not been following Westlife for the longest time, this decision came about after years of ruling out comeback tours.

Simply put, they’ve all missed the experience of being a well-known boyband selling millions of records worldwide.

According to Kian Egan, one of the members of Westlife, the entire group has missed making music and the feeling of standing on stage.

“We’ve missed making music, the buzz of making a new album, the buzz of flying around the world, promoting that record, doing big concert tours and all.”

The group has also seemingly felt that fans wanted to see them together again on social media.

They’re not just remaking old music

But that’s not the most exciting part of the entire thing.

They’re not just here to sing a remake of My Love or If I Let You Go for their world tour.

They’re want to make amazing new music that’s trendy, current and loved by people of all ages.

For those who’ve wondered how their old crush will measure up in the new era today, well, you’d not want to miss this then.

Working Together With Ed Sheeran

They’ve recently released “Hello My Love”, written by singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

When asked if they believe that Westlife could make it again in the new era, they’re pretty confident about it.

To them, music has changed so much, yet, at the same time, it feels as though it has come full circle.

Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”, Lady Gaga’s “A Star is Born”or The Greatest Showman ballads could’ve been Westlife songs.

But don’t worry, true fans of the boyband.

They’re not going to be sellouts.

In fact, they’re just looking to be themselves instead of trying to fit in.

“We all felt that this could be the perfect time for us to come back. Because with the music that we make, we can be ourselves and fit in. We don’t have to pretend. Or try and come back and make music that wasn’t us, just to try and fit in.”

BTS-West?

When asked what they hoped to do after the tour? They’re setting their sights on big dreams.

One of which involved world-famous Korean boy group, BTS.

Just like your young nieces, they’re fans of the Kpop group and hope to be able to work together with them in the future.

“We can call it ‘BT-West’. They’ll do the dancing because that’s what they are very good at. And we’ll have our mic stands in-between.”

While we’re waiting for that particular dream to come true, let’s get our Westlife fix by looking at their latest single (written by Ed Sheeran), Hello My Love.
